Re: fake locations

See ya.

There is always the option of buying earlier or from a real shop. I believe Christmas is normally late December, so it's not really a surprise.

Re: fake locations

There is quite a bit of this going on at the moment. The more people that report them for doing this the better it will be.

Re: fake locations

It is very unfair at any time of the year.

I would like to see a major eBay crack down on this practice.

Re: fake locations

I too would like to see these sellers sanctioned, Paypal could go a long way to help if they insisted that an item claiming to be in Aus had to be sent back to an Aus address.

There is usually a fair indication in the feedback and the postage time star that the items are indeed coming from overseas.

If every buyer who was caught out like that only left one star for description and one for postage time the sellers would indeed be in strife.

Having said that I find that it doesn't take a lot longer to get a parcel from China or HK that is posted the same day I pay than buying from a seller in rural WA who only posts a couple of times a week, it becomes a problem if a return is needed.

Re: fake locations

Warning buying a kayak!! listing appearing everyday they are fake! priced around $226 - $260 no seller history, bodgey email address, express post anywhere in Austraslia,  I cannot believe I was so gullable. I just bloody paid without seeing all the warning signs - and just ruined my Christmas!

Re: fake locations

Assuming you paid by Paypal, your Christmas hasn't been ruined at all, just delayed a bit, that's all.

Of course, if you paid via direct debit, my sympathies on your ruined Christmas.

Re: fake locations

Totally agree, had a faulty phone recently that had to be returned to ''an Aussie seller based in Melbourne'', funny that because the return address was to Tullarmarine Airport in Victoria. The mind boggles why my phone was obviously going on a little plane flight.

As others have said, nothing will be done about this fraudulant practice because Ebay will protect the big sellers to the end of the earth, as thats where the commisions come from, not from us little buyers. I sent the phone with registered tracking and that's where I can track it to, delivered at the airport...end of the trail. I can't follow any further because that's what the seller wants, to leave a dead end so we can't prove beyond doubt where the end address really is, but any reasonable court would agree that it is certainly not in Aus. Also, isn't it strange the operating hours of some of these sellers, like, 10am to 10pm Aussie time, wouldn't they be working our normal business hours if they were based here, and we get emails early hours of the morning, which looks like they are even doing some overtime lying to us. Nuf said. Would name the seller, but I know it will only be deleted by big brother.
