iphone5s scam *****urgent*****

Last night we were scammed when we purchased an iphone from someone with the username <Removed>. Usually we are very careful when buying anything from ebay, but last night we got duped  about an hour after we bought the phone we got an email from ebay saying the item had been removed, then when we went to contact the seller we discovered they had deactivated thier account. On further investigation today we discovered that this user duplicated an ad that actually belongs to an online ebay store <Removed> who are legitiamte ebay sellers. They even used thier location, and terms and conditions etc.  I spoke to <Removed> this morning who informed me they had been getting calls all morning about this from other ebay users who also bought the item.  I have taken the appropriate steps, with both ebay and paypal to get my money back but it will take a couple of weeks. I have read today that ebay is having alot of problems with iphone 5s scams.  I did speak to ebay last night but they were uselss and couldn't give me any information. They couldn't even explain to me what the email that THEY sent me meant.

I would be very interested in hearing from anyone else who got sucked in by these same people  or any similar stories as they may be related.

Take your choice: Rainbow Rose seeds

But all you need is a rose of any colour,(white works best).

Then you just put a different food colour into four jars.

Split the rose stem into four and then put one section in each jar,(time will do the rest).

That is the only way that will produce your Rainbow rose.

I'll be back later,(it's golfing time),good.gifgive_rose.gif

Ok, had a look at the link (thanks)

just looked at the first listing

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/100-Rare-Rose-Flower-Rainbow-Seeds-Your-Lover-Multi-color-Plants-Home-Gar...

I can see why it is ok - though i do have doubts about 2 of the pictures - the ones that show the coloured roses actually on the rose bushes.

but the rest of the listing is completely legit

so could you show me an axemaple of one you are positive is naughty?

Several ebay reps i have had contact with found their way to the boards in 10 seconds flat- no probs at all.

Request to speak to a supervisor or someone has some authority.

I would have thought that someone from Trust and Safety would have some level of authority.

Re: iphone5s scam *****urgent*****

Just a thought here, but I wonder what would happen if eBay was to ask all of it's members (we know they can do that e.g. the password change debacle) if they had been scammed at all in their time as a member.

I will almost guarantee their servers will start melting down...................

I would guarantee it 100% if the members that have left eBay because of it were somehow included.................

All the legalese is a crock (no disrespect Crikey), if a copper sees you doing the wrong thing he's very likely to arrest you and chuck you in the slammer - which is exactly what eBay does through the VERO program and with their petty restrictions on small sellers with no clout - and yet they blatantly allow scammers to continue operating with apparent immunity............

Well..........they wouldn't have to accuse them of scamming. Take them down with one of the against policy violations that they use to take down listings that are not against policy. It doesn't seem to matter to Ebay whether the listing is or is not agains policy; they take the listings down.

Why should it be any different for an obviously fraudelent listing. They would be able to present their case to Ebay and have the listings reinstated if they can prove that there are no violations.

That is how it works for sellers not scamming.

Re: iphone5s scam *****urgent*****

as I said, I don't know what eBay are thinking, but I do know there must be a reason. There must be an explanation, and I believe that it must be one that complies with the law.

I really don't believe that eBay w9ould go"yep, that's definitely a scam, but we are gonna make a heap of money off it, so bugger the other members and we will leave it there and risk the repercussions such as jail, heavy fines and bad media coverage"

Like think about it - think of our attitudes to the scammers and how we are blaming eBay, this isn't new, and with the exception of that dude who made that atrocious marketing nightmare of a statement at the beginning of the seller release, eBay as a whole wiould be interested in not only protecting their brand, but also in growing and expanding it.

Re: iphone5s scam *****urgent*****

This a just a tip for new members who may read this thread.

In this small sample of completed  ipad  SCAMS

http://tinyurl.com/n5hp85v

and this small sample of completed  iphone  SCAMS

http://tinyurl.com/mubcj7d

not all of the SCAMMERS have 0 feedback.

Some SCAMMERS  think that by having a few feedback, it  will give them more credibility.

A member’s bidding history can be checked through Advanced Search > by bidder (left of page)

Enter the user ID, tick Include completed listings, click Search.

You’ll see that the SCAMMERS with a few feedback have bought some very cheap items ,left feedback  straight after buying and have received feedback straight away.

All in just a few minutes.

Is eBay legally obliged to give a reason for rejecting or cancelling a listing?

That one is a scam listing:

As are 105 out of the 115 listings in my link.

They have:

Rainbow Rose in the title and inside the listing.

Photos of the Rainbow Rose and Black Rose,(which also doesn't exist but is "made").

You can select Rainbow and Black seeds from the select drop down menu.

Any listing that states Rainbow Rose or Black Rose seeds is a scam listing,(as they don't exist).

As far as I know it's always been their site, their rules,(so that means IMHO that they can remove ANY listing that

they want too).

The scammers being Chinese is the only reason that I can think of why these listings aren't removed, pardon.gif

Re: iphone5s scam *****urgent*****

Oh, come on, Crikey. Do you honestly believe that Ebay thinks about anything? And...........they do things all the time where no discernable reason can be found. Why would you think that they have a reason in this instance?

They give a pretty good imitation of not thinking about things that should be thought about.
