is there any point reporting a fraud of jewellery to the police....paid into their bank a/c

Stupidly paid a seller ,by bank acount deposit  for a diamond ring.....not diamonds.....3 gem testes/2jewellers and one valuer and gemologiest said NO not diamonds....trash ring is worth possibly $30.    The Seller insists its real......but not.....is there any point in reporting it to the police......I just hate that they will get away with it and possibly do it to some one else....the cost was $585....

have reported to Ebay and of course seeing I paid with bank deposit not claim worthy....althought I at first paid with paypay but they refunded the payment saying no, no, no etc.... and left negative feedback, but all that is really nothing , isnt it??

Send a message that unless you have a refund in 24 hours you will report them to ACORN.

If they are a large seller and have been scammed themselves they may respond but doubt it, seeing as they reversed the PayPal payment.

Then report it to ACORN.

You also have feedback to let your ebay experience be known.

ALWAYS USE PAYPAL for others reading here.

It's your account so why is your sister selling on it.

Fake ring as the certificate should have come with it.

That is an awful lot of gold and diamonds for $585. Unfortunately if it looks too good to be true it usually is. Most of us ( me included ) have had similar experiences.

The seller had 100% feedback before your negative and looks genuine. If it is a scam, it is very clever as it presents as a niave seller who is a bit thick and not really valueing what they have. The question is " if a jeweller really had valued the ring at $2500-$3000 in gold and gem scrap value as per listing description, why wouldnt the ebay seller, sell it to the jeweller for perhaps $1000 instead of listing on ebay for $620.00 ?

The fact that they refunded your paypal payment, insisting on bank payment should have also rung the alarm bells. Having said that, if it helps at all, I can see why you would think you had just found an ebay bargain and went ahead with the transaction. It was an extremely well done scam, by what looks like a very genuine seller.
