for items that do not meet their listing rules.... and...
once the breeches are published in a widely circulated Sunday paper they rush to do something about it
.............obviously could not make that time before that...
waiting for a member to report it for free I guess ( see the bolded below " we use the latest technology to detect items that should not be for sale" BTW if you also report listings that breech the listing policies.... I think ebay is calling us the latest technology)
so the 1000's of employees can get onto the important stuff like sending out seller invoices, selling advertising space to 3rd parties and removing items that in no way breech the listing rules ( never shorten magazine to mag or dare to list an alloy wheel as a mag...those mags can be dangerous!!....guns have mags apparently
Holocaust Memorabilia Found On EBay: UK News Report
"We don't allow listings of this nature and dedicate thousands of staff to policing our site and use the latest technology to detect items that shouldn't be for sale," eBay, which is the world's biggest online marketplace, said in a statement.
"We very much regret that we didn't live up to our own standards."
It said it did not know for how long the memorabilia had been on sale.
Aww shucks thanks ebay

I once listed a pack of fiction mass published war books. l think there were around 6 books in the lot, summer reading sort of paperbacks.
The photo on the listing showed the 6 book covers - one of which had the German swastika in the lower corner of the art work.
Listing was pulled and l got a violation. Had to do an online course about eBay policies.
l learnt the hard way.

I don't think anyone would have a problem with dubious listings being pulled but it seems strange to me that a listing could be a violation simply for having a picture of a swastika on a book cover. It could be on loads of everyday fiction stories, it could be on factual war histories, it could even be on topics unrelated to Nazis, as the swastika was used well before they came along.
Wouldn't there be some way to ask for a review of a listing violation in those sorts of circumstances?

Things like that can be sold. The image needs to be blanked out or blurred. I asked eBay when I sold a war board game once.

i had a book entitled "The Gestapo" listed for about 3 months before it sold. The front cover was mainly a swastika.

I've sold a fair few holocaust related books and
<in writing that Davewil can't see> I use stock images from eBay </in writing that Davewil can't see>
and they don't have the nazi symbol blurred out.

I don't use stock pics, swastikas or not.
