Hi all,
i've bought a couple of items from a seller who states having posted them on 6th Dec (australia, should take no longer than 5 days at the most), and they are still not received and she has no tracking number for it. i thought some sort of tracking number was required, is that correct? i only very rarely sell things but when i do, i always send registered or tracked post, so i'm not sure...
what's the rule here?
thanks heaps for you advice
Happy Ebaying and Merry Christmas to everyone!

Hi, Ebay does not require items to be sent with tracking. If a seller chooses to send items untracked they will in most cases have to refund customers when items are not recieved, either voluntarily or through paypal INR claims. Many sellers send cheaper items untracked to reduce post costs to thier customers, thereby increasing sales and keeping costs down for thier customers. Most add a little extra into the price to cover items lost in the mail as a form of self insurance. Ultimatly it is up to the seller to send with tracking or self insure. Either way the buyer is within thier rights to claim a refund for items not recieved under Ebays policies.

Postage in and out of Qld has been notoriously slow this year with lots of complaints about how long AP is taking to deliver parcels.
I have actually found the opposite, I have been getting feedback from as far away as rural SA within 5 days of posting, NSW and VIC even quicker.

Registered mail to Seven Hills NSW posted on Nov 26 arrived Nov 28.
On Nov 29 I sent registered mail to Clifton Beach Qld, arrived on Dec 4.
On Dec 10 I sent a parcel to Laidley Qld & it arrived Dec 13 & was carded to the local PO, then an hour later it was in Transit & has been ever since (presume the buyer would be jumping up & down by now if they'd hadn't received it). Why would it still be in transit when it was supposed to be carded?
Tracked post Dec 11, arrived rural WA Dec 20, feedback left within the hour of receiving it.
These were sent from a rural PO in Vic, so I am not complaining. From my PO to within Vic mail is delivered next day for normal tracked or registered mail (not express).

A heck of a lot has changed in the 4 years since this thread was started, including tracking numbers.
As for your issue, stop buying stuff from China, or expect to wait a minimum of 4 weeks. If your item isn't here by the end of next week, open an item not received dispute to get a refund. If it's a Chinese seller, don't let them tell you they will resend the item. It's a delay tactic. If you do end up getting a refund and the item arrives, you can always repay the seller.
