I will probably get shot down for saying this, but ebay just isn't the place to buy some products, it really isn't.

Not if you want  a proper warranty.

There are exceptions, but on the whole, I would say a lot of electrical or IT stuff might fall into that category.

Nutirbullets, thermomix, apple products.

Mobile phones, cameras from overseas.

Wedding dresses from China that have the designer photos in their ads but at $18 instead of $2000.

I also suspect a lot of the Malaysian Tupperware may be fake.

The list goes on.

Ebay is fine for a lot of things, it is okay too for second hand brand named items that you are picking up etc

There's probably nothing much you can do now except contact the seller & you may get nowhere.

In future, just be very wary with electricals.

When I couldn't buy a computer part in Oz (told it was no longer made) I chose an eBay seller supposedly in Oz.  Of course the item was sent from China and after a few months it broke down.  You live and learn.

However, I have also bought Tupperware from Asia and so far I've found it is the real deal.  Australia makes the moulds to produce Tupperware but doesn't seem to make the actual pieces any more (or if they do you never see Made in Aust on them).  Even pieces bought from USA might have been made in Mexico or Costa Rica or something.  So it seems Tupperware now get their pieces made where no doubt it is cheaper.  I've got a gorgeous set of 4 cream tumbler shape containers with lids, bought from an Oz seller but sent from Malaysia.  The set is definitely genuine, I use the pieces a lot and 4 years down the track they are still like new.  I've also bought Modular Mate Ovals and more besides - none are fake.

Many warranties only apply if the item is purchased through an authorised/licensed retailer and are not transferable from one seller to the next.

Yes, I have bought some Tupperware from Malaysian suppliers too & have no problem with it. It has done the job.

What made me wonder though if some pieces could be fake is I bought labels from there, advertised as Tupperware and it is definitely set out the same etc except it lacks the word Tupperware at the top, which the real label sets seem to have.

I bought it knowing that & so far have no complaints about the labels, but it did make me suspect they are a copy.

But I daresay you are right and a lot of legit Tupperware products are Asian made these days.

To be honest, I am not sure I could tell a good fake from the real thing, whether in Tupperware or anything else.

But I would be really suspicious of nutribullets, nicer dicers etc on ebay.

I don't know if any of you live near Caribbean Market here in Vic. I do, and it is also flooded with stalls selling 'nicer dicer' sets for $19.

Plus stalls that have all the latest movie DVDs, well before they are even released.Smiley Happy

So it's not just on ebay you have to be careful I guess.

I've never thought about Tupperware labels (I have a Dymo labelmaker so I make my own) but looking them up on eBay, hmm.  Definitely no Tupperware logo.

I recently received some replacement pieces from Tupperware Aust and nowhere on them (bases or lids) did it say Made in Australia which was disappointing. All my older pieces were made in Australia.  I like to buy Tupperware from overseas (USA and Asia) not so much because it is often cheaper but because some of the vintage style pieces I like are not sold in Oz any more, but they are still available overseas.  There's also a better range of products and (looking at Tupperware Aust's last catalogue) the colour choices are better.  IMO Tupperware Aust's latest product colours are dreadful.

It pays if you know your subject and (sad case that I am) I do know my Tupperware. Smiley Embarassed  I've kept some of my older catalogues as it saves time looking for pieces if you know the correct product name and/or part number.

While I have recently sold off (locally, not on eBay) some pieces I no longer use, I admit it - I'm a Tupperware tragic.

me too zanadoo.

I have stuff ranging from the 1970s. My cupboard is a living timeline of Tupperware changes over the decades.Smiley Very Happy

I am currently a bit unhappy. Bought a brand new Teaz me teapot a year back, didn't use, only opened a week ago, used twice, a piece of glass broke off!! Not knocked, only gentle hand rinse. I know how to look after the product.

I did email them to say i know it isn't under guarantee but did they want it to at least look to see if it was a faulty batch or something. Haven't heard back.

Most disappointing, and that is with a genuine boxed product from Australia.Smiley Frustrated

You may have some luck with finding vintage pieces on gumtree or garage sales too.
