postage refund with paypal dispute?

hi all, i recently purchased 2 items from a seller, only one arrived with an address label stuck on the outside box, so obviously they didnt send the items together. I got a combined postage rate being charged $2 extra for the cheaper item. If i lodge a paypal dispute will i get the $2 refunded? I know its only a small amount but i'm on a tight budget (got to keep more money in paypal to buy more lol) Its also the principal of the matter though.

Have you contacted the seller about the problem?

If you paid to have them sent together then they should have been in the same package.

If you open a dipsute for item not received and the seller is able to show proof of postage then it makes it hard to prove there was only the one item in the package.

I was sent an empty box and I had to to take it and the packing to the police station to get a police report before I was refunded by paypal.

Just remember combined postage only reduces the amount you would normally pay and not always that they will be in the same package. The seller may still send the other item in another box. Send them a message and ask the questions first.

I have already contacted the seller when the items didn't arrive after a week going from Sydney to Melbourne, they said they reposted order on 5th july, 1 item received on 9th, no idea if that was from 1st posting or repost as the label wasn't a regular aust post one with date on it. Its a sticker with my address, their address, a bar code & postage paid australia printed on it.
I'm also annoyed the box wasn't even taped up & its a wonder the item didn't fall out in transit. So oveall i'm a bit over msging the seller again to sort it out unless i have to.

Paypal don't arrange partial refunds for postage so it's goodbye to your $2.00. With regard to items not being well packed and other issues leave " appropriate " feedback if you believe the seller doesn't deserve positive feedback. If you don't receive the other item soon open a paypal dispute.

Of course you need to ask the seller but if you've only paid $2.00 more than the cost of postage that is an acceptable handling fee.

As for your shortage of funds that is easy to solve - buy less. It works for me.

How much i choose to buy is not the issue, as already said, its the principal of the matter. The handling fee would have been covered by the initial postage amount on the first item & also $2 handling fee is too much, imho.

You're correct, of course.

How dare a seller want even that small an amount for their time.

There is no need for sarcasm davewil1964. I'm well aware its fair for sellers to charge a handling fee to cover their time & costs. But as i didn't receive the item, then why should i pay for a handling fee. Secondly, when i sell, i charge a handling fee PER PARCEL, not per item, much more reasonable.
