Hi all,
So 3 days ago I purchased an item and soon after realised that it was the incorrect type (automotive part). I quickly within a few hours lodged a cancellation request through eBay, since then the item has been sitting in my purchased section on my profile with a " Cancel request pending" status on it, eBay states that the seller will respond soon yet the seller still has not responded to the request yet.
What is the procedure if the seller does not respond?
Thanks.

The seller is not obligated to respond nor accept the cancellation
The eBay blurb the seller will respond soon is just that, a copy and paste blurb
They can after 4 days report non payment so they get their fees back
Unless you have other strikes against your account for non payment, one strike will not matter (it will not affect your account nor stop you from buying from other sellers)
If you already have non payment strikes, then you will not be able to buy from sellers who have blocks in place
Or, you could pay and then sell it yourself when it arrives

Thanks for your reply, I can confirm I have no strikes against my account and a 100% rating, I also paid for the item in full when purchasing it.

You could try sending the seller a message but unfortunately, the new cancellation announcement states
"On paid orders, eBay will automatically decline the request after 3 days, but we encourage sellers to respond quickly"

All buyers can only have 100% positive, so that does not come into it
And paying in full also does not mean the seller is under any obligation to cancel

Thanks, I have just sent the seller a message to see if they have received it. I will see what happens 🙂

Most sellers are reasonable and will cancel as there's absolutely no point in sending an item to a buyer who doesn't want it.
If it's the seller who's left you feedback, they accept returns within 60 days.

"If it's the seller who's left you feedback, they accept returns within 60 days"
on the off chance it's already been posted , although unlikely if you haven't heard from the seller

From what I know, it has not been posted yet as I requested cancellation within 24 hours, it has been 3 days since I did this and the seller has not responded with anything yet. I just sent the seller a formal message asking if a cancellation is possible and what is the status of my cancellation.

Just because you sent the cancel request within 24 hours, it doesnt mean the item hasnt already being packed and sent.
