Why can't I buy anything. Keep getting "You’ve reached a temporary buying restriction." Why??? I buy heaps of items and this is ridiculous. I need parts in a hurry, and I'm locked out!!

That is most likely why
Other members can only guess
If you have bought 'heaps' in a short time (especially if they are high priced things) then you, like any other buyer will encounter this
Why?
I assume eBay do it to protect buyer's accounts from unlimited buying $$$$$$
You would need to ask eBay for an eBay answer, or read the policies surrounding buying limits

@grestud_0 wrote:"You’ve reached a temporary buying restriction."
Why???
Removing buying restrictions
"If you receive a restriction, you'll receive an email as well as a message in My eBay explaining why it was applied, and what you need to do to have it removed"
Have you received this ?
If not, scroll down to the bottom of the page in the link already provided and click Contact Us
which will take you to the automated assistant. As to speak to a supervisor

The seller has probably reached their quota for number of items that they can sell to you at this time.
It is annoying though.

An individual seller can block a bidder who is currently winning or has bought x amount of items in the last 10 days.
And also apply it to feedback scores.
If that's the case, a buyer can contact the seller and ask for the restriction to be removed.
BUT when trying to buy in this situation, I believe the message received
"You’ve reached a temporary buying restriction" is different and states it's because of the seller's preferences.
If it's happened to you michellebartley, can you post the exact words ?
The OP said "I can't buy anything" so presumably from different sellers and feedback indicates that.

It has happened on the very odd occasion *casey* but when it was I cannot remember.
Im sorry but I can’t offer any more help with it.

No worries michelle, but if it happens to you (or anyone reading this) again, can you please let us know the exact wording of the message you receive ?
When a buyer is blocked by a seller's preferences, I believe the message usually mention the words " the seller"
rather than a generic "temporary buying restriction" from eBay.
Sellers know this because very often the buyer will contact the seller and ask them to lift the restriction.
Also, sellers can see the IDs in their buyer requirements activity log.
Anyway, hopefully the OP will return and read all the answers to their question.
