Hi
I purchased and paid for an item via paypal
was a dress 99cents postage was $12 so all up almost a $13 dress
Item didn't arrive so I messaged the seller who didn't reply, usually I would wait as I know not everyone checks ebay everyday but time was running out so opened a paypal dispute
the seller messaged to say the item was returned due to incorrect address, my address in paypal and eBay are the same are correct have been for 3 years.
seller messages 2 days ago to say the item has been posted can give me a tracking number if needed
messages again today saying "your item has been posted stop with the paypal dispute!"
I replied by saying I would stop the dispute once the item arrives.
I believe I can only open a dispute once for an item, if I close the dispute and the item doesn't arrive I won't be able to open a new dispute, is this correct?
so would I be right to wait until the item arrives and I check the item before I close the dispute.
thanks

I do not know about you, but if I pay $13 for dress I would expect something that I can actually wear.
I wouldn't!

I hope that is not your attitude when buyers buy your dresses?

Must be real hard to get a decent price on clothing items now. You have to feel some sympathy for the seller. Yesterday I purchased a dress from a well known department store's online site. All linen - cost $10.26. Postage was $9.00 but I'd bought another item also.

gottabecareful, what attitude?
The fact that I wouldn't expect much of a dress that costed me 99c?
I don't include postage as that can be same on a $1000 dress.
The fact is that it would still be a 99c dress in this case, and no matter what I receive it would have to be better than the price would warrant.
Anyway, all this is academic as I would never even win anything for 99c - main reason being that I would not bid - and even if I did want the item and there was no choice but to bid and God forbid win it (happened to me with some books) - the seller would still get proper price for it through PP.
Most definitelly wouldn't want to contribute to anyone's fair reward for a sale (even if it's their own doing, like starting the auction low). Any potential gain just wouldn't be worth the worry afterwards.

ha, ha, of course, so would I, but not one for 99c - I wouldn't expect to be able to wear it for so little money - so if it was wearable that would be a nice bonus!
Also, don't know how much complaining I would do even for a $10.26 dress if something was wrong - the amount wouldn't be large enough to inspire one to put the time in - but of course we are all diferent, we are all adults, we all have our own ways of dealing with issues - and we are capable of deciding what is important and what isn't.

Gosh JHS, as seller and a frequent buyer, I am not feeling the love for you by your posts on this thread ๐
I do $1 auctions as loss leaders, I am not phased if they sell at $1, all of my buyers get great goods as described and excellent service regardless of final price - why would a buyer expect any less than a wearable garment that is as described in the listing ???
In my experience .99c auctions seem to frequently attract new users to ebay, allowing them to score an item at a low price, without risking loads of dosh, until they build some confidence in on-line purchasing.
And my goodness I also love their tendency to nibble-bid and push prices up throughout an auctions duration :-x

If I only paid 99c for a dress I would have bid if it wearable other wise WHY bid.
And yes for that 99c I would expect it to be in wearable condition if that is what in the listing.
JHS not everyone is snobs or would be if they could be's and no matter what the price every buyer has the right to expect any purchase in the condition it is advertised.

Hi cats,
my ideas, life experience and opinions are not formed with the primary desire "to be loved"!
None of ours, I should imagine.
And I most definitelly, most certainly would not even consider "going with the flow" here on the boards just for the sake of it!
I am however very happy to hear that 99c auctions do well for you, and hopefully for all of the sellers who do them.
What I did say was that if I bought an item for 99c last thing on my mind would be to worry
1. if it arrives,
2. to start complaining if it's "not as described" when it arrives.
3. Never bought a 99c item in my life - or rather I did, by default - but still paid the seller normal price for it.
My husband always tells me I am the only person he knows who barters "upwards" not down with market sellers!

as a buyer and seller I would not list something for any price nor would I even give it to St Vinnies if it was not wearable.
when I bid on any item I factor postage into the price so this dress cost $12.99
so the dress arrived and to be honest its looks like it was worn clubbing on Saturday night many drinks were spilt then the item placed in an envelope.
thank you to those that were helpful I will now change the dispute to item not as described.
