Hi all over the last few years i reported a seller for shill bidding on his own items, i know he is because first up i bought an item off him, he had some other interestiing items i started to watch them, they sold but then turned up at a auction house i attend and i ended up buying them from there. Over the next few months i noticed more of the ebay sellers items turning up at the auction house so i started looking into it. Turns out that the same bidder was winning these items then they would turn up at the auction house. i reported the ebay seller and they(ebay) took action and restricted him. A month or so went by and the seller was at it again so i reported him again, action was taken by ebay (so i was told).
Anyway to shorten my story he has been reported over a dozen times, using the same account to shill bid over and over the last few years.
Ebay take action and suspend him for a little while then he is back at it again. I want to take this a step further and report him to the authorities or someone that will do something about it.

Don't mean to sound rude but why not just avoid the seller or if you must buy something from them, only bid the maximum you'd be happy to pay? Ebay really doesn't give much of a rats patoote anymore about less than desirable sellers. JMO

They only get suspended for a period and then are allowed to sell again.
I had a seller that was shilling and when I won the auctions he then cancelled my wins and made it out that I retracted the bids on mine own when in fact the seller retracted them.
I told ebay and all ebay did to him was make sure from now on he went through with all his sales.
And guess what he continues to sell lol.
What authorities are you referring too?
There are no authorities lol it's not a crime the seller has committed.
Just move on and stop worrying over it.

It is a crime
Some one has to do something, i even message him myself and dont get a reply, but if i use another account and message him about an item he is quick to reply. I dont buy anything from him anymore only the one thing.
Just sick of him doing it, pees me off big time. The thing is he keeps using the same account to bid like he is toO stupid to get what he is doing.
I have messaged him lots of times and said just list your **bleep** for what its worth stop trying to get and 2 or 5 or whatever extra dollars, sometimes he manages to get more money out of the bidders, sometimes not, when he does win the items himself thats when they turn up at the auction house.

Are you saying that the seller is using the same account to bid on the items that he has listed.....or is he using a different account?
on 22-01-2019 03:48 PM
Different account, but that account he just keeps using it even after ebay have restricted him or whatever, he just gets back on and bids with that same account.

No it's not a crime that the police will get involved in.
I've been through this shill bidding so many times and the answer you got from ebay is the only answer you'll get so just move on.
And my guess is that the seller has now blocked you from being able to contact them.

there was a prosecution in the UK many years back, but that doesn’t mean there would be prosecutions here though.
