unauthorised payment

Hi, just noticed in my junk folder of my email account 2 messages from Paypal advising me of unauthorised payments to 2 Ebay members. Anyone know what's going on here? Thanks for your help.

Are you sure they are from paypal?

If you re worried you can log into your paypal account and check if anything is amiss....do not log in using a link in the emails.

My guess is that it is a fake and designed to get you use a link to log in....you will give them all the information they need to scam you.

Re: unauthorised payment

Yes, be careful as Paypal scams are common recently and this may be another one.

Re: unauthorised payment

Log in PayPal by typing web address in. Don't click the link in email.

If the payment doesn't exist in your account forward the email to the following address.

spoof@paypal.com

If the payment does exist in your account ring up PayPal.

Re: unauthorised payment

I've also received these emails.  They are scams - they tell you at the bottom of email if you don't agree with this to click on to a link & provide details & they will reverse -LOL - I don't think so!!

Nothing has come out of my Paypal acct & I've received about three of them over the last week.

Not just your Paypal account, change all passwords linked to any site that contains financial information like your bank, ebay account etc.

Re: unauthorised payment

Hi all, thanks so much for your help with this. Yes, when I saw it in junk I figured it was suss and know from reading these boards it's not unique to me. I went into the junk file and read the page but did not click on any links contained therein or provide any info. I am a bit confused as these 2 pages have 2 different peoples name and address as the shipping address for the 2 items. Also has the Ebay sellers names etc. I assume these would be bogus names? Am I correct?

Re: unauthorised payment

No I received them too. They are using real sellers ids and current item numbers. Think the buyers names would be bogus, but who knows.
