i was woken up this moring at 8am by a damn txt msg from Ebay advising me that Plus has mega deals starting at 10am (usually put the phone on mute when i'm sleeping but the one time i didn't of course i get a msg).
Did anyone else get one? i had a quick look in my ebay communication preferences but could not see anything about txt/sms msgs, i do however know i would never have agreed to receiving them when i set the preferences up.
Not happy Jan! i am not interested in Ebay Plus & receiving unwanted msgs about it would make me even less likely to be interested!

Does your phone have a Delete button?
Mine does and it is very easy to use.....and very effective.

lyndal, your reply does not tell me if you received the msg or not?

@barney_rubbles,
I received the text message, briefly thought, "Oh, eBay, you're doing a Clive Palmer," and deleted it. I did note that eBay provided an opt-out option...

yes it did have an opt out option but i never opted in. I know some people think 'big deal, just delete it' but personally i find unsolicited txt msgs &/or phone calls agravate my anxiety because i always wonder if its something important, great theres nothing wrong but they made me look lol

Then... I hope that future text messages will be full of happy news for you, and that you can avoid anxious times.

Yes, I got it too (after I don't know how many emails) and was very pished off as I worked late last night and it woke me up. I was on call, so couldn't have the phone on silent. I am on call again tonight, so if they do it again in the morning, I'll be really angry, especially as I opted out (I also never opted in and refuse to confirm my phone number when I log in, to try and avoid phone spam like this).
I am also not interested in Plus, so delete the emails, but I'm being flooded with them lately. They must be getting pretty desperate to get people to sign up with the amount of spam.

'I am also not interested in Plus, so delete the emails, but I'm being flooded with them lately' ....
i had to opt out of receiving any promotional emails from ebay as they were sending stuff literally every second day & there is no way of saying you only want certain ones eg discount coupon code promotions. And i get the shift working thing, done that before too & had to put landline on silent also because of stupid scam callers from India etc, can't report them to anyone because its overseas based.

Every second day? I wish! I'm getting 10+ a day. I don't want to turn the promo emails off because occasionally they send something that does interest me. Like free listings.
I still have a landline for the internet, but haven't had a phone hooked up to it for over 10 years. That's pretty much got rid of the Indian phone spammers telemarketers. They haven't discovered my mobile number yet, even though I've had it for years. That said, I don't answer numbers I don't know, or private numbers. If it's a genuine caller, they usually leave a message, then I'll call them back.

No I did not receive the message because I have not put my mobile number on ebay. They have my landline number.
I have had plenty of emails though and the Delete button works well there too.
