Why does ebay's postage take so long . A package from Melbourne to the Gold Coast anything from 7-10 working days . Why isn't express post made a compulsory option.

Express Post is available in the eBay labels system and has been for at least two years but only as an assessed parcel, not flat rate satchels. It is the last option on the "Compare delivery services" drop down menu.

Nobody is saying you should be forced to use express post . I was saying it should be a option .

AusPost is very reliable but can sometimes take a bit longer to arrive than normal. I use them most often, as a seller, though I sometimes use couriers aswell.

There is a company called Sendle which you may want to look into. Sign up for an account yourself and then you can arrange postage for your seller. From QLD to NSW, a parcel using Sendle (e.g. a courier) took 24 hrs to arrive. Yep.

So, it's good to use both couriers and AusPost for different reasons. Unless you're in a hurry to receive something, AusPost is generally very reliable and it's our countries main post service so it's good to support it.

It really is an option if you as the buyer want express you can contact the seller and ask before you bid/buy.

The reasons the sellers have for not offering are clearly outlined in the above responses, and they are the ones who own their businesses and likely feel they should not have to 'offer' something that is rarely used.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say but it sounds like you think we should be forced to offer it as an option, in which case it's not an option for sellers, only for buyers.

I still offer it as an option for the rare person that wants it. It's so rare that someone did opt for it a few months ago and I missed it. As it was it still should have arrived overnight, or 2 days anyway (which it did), but I did the right thing and refunded the postage cost. I sent them an apology message and they left me great feedback and 5 stars.

I'm so sorry as its out of most sellers  control  as we  are unable to offer  express post as even Australia post can not guarantee delivery times. I think buyers should have understanding  that extended  times in processing facility's due to covid-19 processing and handling procedures at each processing facility must adhered to, to keep us all safe.

You are comparing apples with oranges. Postage times vary because of many different factors,

1. Where the items are coming from.

2. What the seller's handling time is.     etc etc.

Regarding Amazon, I ordered 3 items from them in the middle of December - 2 items arrived in early January and the third has still not arrived. By comparison eBay items are usually delivered in 3 - 4 weeks (I'm in SW WA).

Express postage ?  Well you can always ask the seller if they will upgrade to express BEFORE you place your order, some will some won't, but you would have to pay for the upgrade.
