Actually eBay usually always favour the buyer.

But you need to follow the instructions in a return case exactly.

Once you open a case the seller sends you a postage label for the return or a refund if they don't want the item back.

Then you return the item and when tracking shows as being returned you get a refund.

Sounds like you did something other than the above.

I am sure most sellers will fall of their chair to read that

eBay rarely miss a chance to screw sellers over any way they can think of

Can you please explain step by step what you did / what steps you took?

Did the item arrive damage?

Was it suitable for your device?

How did the seller close the case?

NO, eBay are NOT happy to help sellers. 99.9% of the time it is all about the buyer only, no matter what

I am honestly interested to hear what really happened in this case

I'm interested too.

Almost all of the time, if a seller asks ebay to step in, they close in favour of the buyer.

This happened to me too.

I requested to return an expensive bracelet which was too short to be worn.  There had been no length in the description but the particular bracelet is always between 17 and 19 cms.....what turned up was 16cm.

Seller said no....case closed.

I rang ebay and protested and they admitted the decision was wrong and insisted on referring me to a paypal dispute.

Instead of allowing me to open the dispute myself after applying for the postage refund offer it was opened by paypal.  I got my refund but lost the return tracked postage amount.

Paypal was adamant that I could apply for the refund after the dispute was opened even though I knew differently.

I will never use the ebay returns again.....not that I have many returns anyway.   It will be paypal all the way.
