20c Error Coin

I have a 20 cent coin with the last three letter of Australia fading away to nothing and no date.   It has the older head, so 1966 until the next head came into being!     It doesn't seem to be a "created" error as the rim is raised and in good condition.    Unfortunately my coin guy is more a stamp guy but agrees it doesn't look created and I live over 3 hours from a coin dealer.

Is this a common error.

Thanks in advance.

Re: 20c Error Coin

Sounds like die fill, which means the die was obstructed by something when the coin was struck, too much oil/grease on the die maybe.

Hi Appleangel,  I have listed it for sale 300856216473.  Is it likely to be worth anything or shall I just put it back in my purse.

Selling whatever I can to donate to the various appeals.

No worries,i think they got a lot of people but got sick of me reporting their accounts & gave up.

The 20 cent coin looks like a genuine die fill to me,as you said there is no damage on the rim & no scuffing or anything around the missing letters & date other than normal circulation marks, good luck with it.
