I would like more information please  on  what appears to be a gold edged porcelain trinket box . Underneath is written Made in Italy 590 and the date perhaps ? 3/1901.

Bit tricky just seeing the base, but I will take a stab. With a hand painted mark like this I would be guessing 1950's, 1960's, maybe later. Highly unlikely that is date - most unmarked Italian ceramics from this period have similar number marks, which may indicate the decorator or pattern.
