I have been sitting here for the last half hour trying to find where I told you we were going to be Grandparrots, can't find it anywhere and can't believe I didn't tell you already.
Well the news is, we are Grandparrots, we have at least one baby parrot, reckon it is a week old, can hear it "chirping" up in the nest box. Mum and Dad are doing lots of tooing and froing feeding it. Haven't seen it as yet but no doubt we will. It should have a better chance of surviving this time, the people with the Golden Retrievers, the house at the back of us, are not back in residence as yet, reckon it could be another 3-4 weeks and I would think it will be gone by then. Only trouble if it lands in our back yard we also have a small dog and she likes to chase the birds, you know what it is like, "this is my yard so get the H#@ll out of it". Will keep you posted.
Yeah, we are Grandparrots.

Congratulations Wilma. That is excellent news and I can't wait to see the baby pictures.
You'll have to get Neil up the ladder soon,
Pip

Thanks Pip, it would be nice to get up and have a look but we are never sure just when the parents will be back and we don't want them to get a fright and leave the nest and the baby. Guess we will get to see what we have when it/they are big enough to sit out on the perch or on the edge of the hole into the box. Seems to me that they have nested quite a bit earlier this year. Wonder if the flood had anything to do with it?
Wilma.

Hi, We love them too, they are Pale Headed Rosellas. Had a look in the nest box yesterday and they have one baby, it does not have feathers as yet so is still quite young. Will post a photo of the parents if I can find one,
Wilma.

I have four eastern rosella's, one king parrot and half a dozen grass parrots visiting my bird bath.
The king parrot is eating the sunflower seed I put out for the rosellas. He's only been around for a week or so, so I hope he brings his mate and stays around.
