Hi all, I have been trying to identify this plate for years but have been unsuccessful! It has a chip which shows a pottery/clay type of product underneath. I have attached a photo and would be so grateful for any help. Thanks..Trish

Lancaster and Sons, later Lancaster and Sandland use the same central image on their wares sometimes. I think they also use the border but I haven't seen them together. This is either one of theirs or a Japanese copy of one of theirs, as lakeland has suggested.

its actually the colours of the grapes and apples and the blue in the border that made me say Japan, i have a cakestand here with the same fruit colours in the glaze (which are a bit gaudier than the english versions) i will try and post a picture to show what i mean.

hiya, it looks to me to be tin glaze judging from the sheen on the back so Im thinking English approx. 1890s 1910.

Do you get transfers on tin glaze? I thought they were all hand painted onto the wet tin. There are a lot of Japanese copies of Lancasters stuff, just by the way.

Hello, yes u can get transfer ware patterns on English tin glaze.

It may not be tin glaze at all, but it just looked like it could be to me.

Good Luck.
