Re: How is everyone?

Hi Terri - my "clever formatting " must have been an ?omen? as the bowl is not the full quid either. Well it is a sort-a Farmyard bowl - but not -  IYKWIM .;-)

Missllinda - I guess one could say it is "rare" considering how many I have or haven't seen - in this ummmm would you call it  " Lavender " colour  or in any other colour for that metter either..... and considering how Wilma reacted to me merely saying it had "chooks"on it. ๐Ÿ˜„ B-)

O.W.L. - yes it IS lovely - the iridesence is just MAGIC and there is absolutely no damage on it anywhere !!!!

Granny - YEP - it is a Fenton reissue, but you knew that because I told you so on Facebook B-)]:)

Here's some education for others that mightn't know  >>>>

" The original Farmyard bowls were made by Dugan in purple and green with one peach opal known.

It is said that the moulds for the NEW versions are not the same as used in the originals. (**see my note below).

Apparently, the new set has passed through several owners including a couple who commissioned pieces with their mark - MIMI, on the bottom.

Subsequently, Singleton Bailey acquired the molds and commissioned FENTON to make bowls, plates, rose-bowls, spitoons and baskets with his signature - DBS.  Bailey continues to reissue these pieces in a variety of shapes and contemporary colours. " ~~ extracted from Doty's website.

** Well now - I can state that my bowl is marked under with the DBS initials and it appears (to my eyes) to be very crisp in pattern / pressing etc,  sooooo to me it's not from a 'clapped-out ' overworked mould which would put it in the earlier days of the reissue. It does ' FEEL ' nice to hold & fondle, plus the way the light shimmers off it ~~~~aaaah. :-x

Nanny - YEP - it may not be a $19,000 ICGA 2011 Auction stopper BUT it certainly is a " noice bit of gear " and for the moment it's my OMG - and a keeper until I decide to part with it ๐Ÿ˜‰

Re: How is everyone?

I know you told me on FB,just thought it would have been good to explain here the difference between the old and new.

And you have explained it very well indeed,so a novice collector who may read these posts will now know the difference.

Well done.

Re: How is everyone?

OH & I have been doing our e-tax today as it was quiet here.  For the first time in history (I think) OH is getting a couple of hundred in return!! ๐Ÿ˜„  I always get a meagre one. Hopefully it will help keep the wolves at bay for a while. ๐Ÿ™‚
