Re: How is everyone?

Hi, Are you ready for another update on the house.  The kitchen is being fitted, was not supposed to be here until tomorrow but they arrived this morning while we were having brekkie.  Haven't been in for a look as yet, thought I would wait for a while. The bench top will be here tomorrow, hopefully, and then they will put in the sink and hotplates and I guess the rangehood.  I have never had a brand new kitchen, I find it rather daunting and ast the same time exciting, hopefully it will look just like I imagined it would when we designed it and picked the colours.  The plaster and woodwork is all finished, we just need a new back door, they are waiting for it to be delivered.  We have ordered new security doors and security doors to replace the sliding screen doors.  The painter is due on Sunday, he is a friend and will stay with us while he paints, Neil will probably give him a hand.  We have selected the colours, that is if we don't change them again.  The man will be here this morning, with samples of sliding doors for our wardrobe, it will need 3, one mirror, two something else.  As we are having all stainless door handles, maybe we need stainless frames for the doors as well.  Will need to get some floor coverings fairly soon, just need to see how the paint job looks before we make a final selection.  I have never had to furnish a whole house from scratch before, didn't know how many things there are to do, not to worry, we are getting there.  Should be back in it before the end of July.  Will keep you posted.

Re: How is everyone?

Thanks Mon, I get so excited about what is happening, after waiting so long for it to be started, that I forget that other people may not be as enthusiastic as I am about something that is fairly personal to me.  The plasterer will be back tomorrow to finish the cornice in the kitchen, as will the chippie to do the skirting board, kitchen cupboards are all installed just need the bench tops.  they arrived today and will be fitted in the morning. Kitchen is looking good, really pleased with the layout, you know this is my first brand new kitchen, had 4 houses but no new kitchens.  sorry I am doing it again.

Re: How is everyone?

Thanks everyone, it is exciting.  We selected the tiles for the kitchen this afternoon, they will be laid on Tuesday.  Painter is arriving on Sunday, we can actually see progress.  More as it happens.

Re: How is everyone?

The painter arrived yesterday, we changed the colour of the paint, went back to our original choice, the only thing that remains the same is the colour of the feature wall - red, well at this time it hasn't been changed.  We also changed the tiles, selected a lighter coloured one, same ones for the feature but lighter ones for the rest.  The lounge ceiling is almost complete, looking good.  I am waiting for the electrician as I need some power points in the kitchen changed, the one for the range hood has to go in the venting flu so you can't see it, another one is not dead centre in a wall, can't get it dead centre as there is a stud in the way, will have to move it to one side, another one will be in the feature strip so needs to be done away with completely and have two double ones down near the bench.  I am gunna get this right if it kills the sparkie and drives everyone else crazy - including me.  More later.

Re: How is everyone?

Hi, Not real sure with this new Board just where I am up to.  The painting is basically finished, just have to do the doors and some of the architraves.  Painter couldn't stay long enough to finish it, so Neil is busy painting, among other things.  The kitchen is in, the oven and hot plates, sink and range hood, basically it is finished, just needs a floor covering.  I am over the moon with it, it is everything that I had imagined it would be.  As soon as the floor covering is done I will try for a photo to show you.  Floor coverings are installed on Wednesday, guess we will move in soon after that.  Neil has also been fishing, has caught about 30 Salmon, heaps of Bream and prawns by the bucket full.  Deep fried, battered prawn tails for dinner tonight.  Thank goodness for cryovac machines and deep freezers, have filled my little one and the neighbours spare one and still he brings them home.  So long as he and the little dog are enjoying themselves I guess I can always find freezer space or people who would like a meal of fish or prawns.  Don't think I told you that I have two red feature walls and matching red bar stools, they look really nice, well I think they do, can just see our largish gold framed mirror and cabinet full of glass against the red wall.  That's it for now.

Guess you must be nearly ready to show us Wilma, how exciting.  My brother was here yesterday, I sent him home with a box of family history, some sheets, a big box of china for my eldest niece (new house, loves old china), some music CD's, needless to say, this downsizing is going well, but I fear I will run out of siblings before I have finished, LOL
