I am very lucky because we owned our house and our car, a lot of folk don't have that.  If I can get 10 hours work a week l will be ok.  The trouble is our super was used up long ago so this pension is all I get.  I am not whinging, I am grateful for it, just a bit bewildered that this happens to so many folk.

Thats my dream job to sit out the back with my laptop and price for oppies in return for some treasures that I could sell for cash.

Alot of people got jobs there by volunteering  there.

oh dear Lee wish it was that easy!!.  I've been an Op shop Volunteer sorter / pricer / back room worker now for 10 years, it's hard slog, lifting, carrying, dirty sorting, and I'm usually on my feet from 9am till 2pm ! at least  2 days a week.

but I do love the company, the occasional (very occasional) good find, and we have such a laugh at times about the donations...

I wouldn't give it up for anything!!

Linda, hope you find just the right job.. not fair I know, when we started out in the workforce in the 1960s they said we could retire at 60.... then the bloo** Govt.  changed the law!!!!

The Government is not making me to volunteer work, but the pension for a widow is only $200 a week and if I want to survive I will have to get a job.  For the last 18 years I have been Les' Carer, so, not a lot of skills.  I am going to do the food handlers course, that will qualify me for a kitchen hand job, trouble is, at the end of the day I am 59 and things are wearing out, LOL, hips not the best, but I know I can work a few hours a week.

Cannot get aged pension until I am 65,

so will be working for a few years yet. Thanks for the suggestions, have taken them all on board.

Hynes I have been following your fight on FB, you are doing a great job, keep it up girl!

Linda - it's 65 and a 1/2 for us now :_|   Probably will be even longer than that by the time we get there X-(    BLARDY GOVT.

Yep - still battling bureaucracy here.  Very stressful. They're not going to get my house without a good dust-up I can assure you.  www.noprc.org

Terri it sounds like fun though.

Hynsie that jitterbug clip was so good, I was sitting here, having breaky, with the biggest grin on my face, see, old folk can still so "stuff", LOL

Oscar wasn't getting on with Hannah's other 2 dogs so a week ago eldest found him a new home, he is now an inside dog (he loves that) with a young family with two little girls, he has room to play and gets a walk every day.  I was feeling guilty until I talked to his new Mum, he is fine.

It's a beautiful sunny Sunday here, going to have a day off, have a good one Boardies.

Terri - I can still see it in my mind's eye ... the day that "Elvis left the building" ๐Ÿ˜ž   You can imagine my SURPRISE ๐Ÿ˜ฎ one day just a couple of years ago at work when a bloke fronts up and produces his Medicare card...... YEP - Elvis Aaron Presley was his name.

ELVIS IS ALIVE & WELL & LIVING IN BRISBANE :^O:^O

Linda - it's good to know that Oscar has found a new home. :-x

Today has been just lovely :-x with intermittent RAIN here in Brissie.  ANNNND....about time too !!

BIG Thank you to Mother Nature.  Has been just sooooo hot & dry lately.

For anyone interested in what it was that brought a GRIN to missllinda's face......

Here's the link for the jitterbug clip (hopefully??)   http://www.youtube.com/v/uNE3YSr_o2A%26feature%3drelated

Miss L, you did the right thing by Oscar in finding him a new home. Not worth the grief if he doesn't get on with the other dogs, believe me.  Congrats too on the new car. A friend has a M2 and loves it.

I hope all the Elvis' have departed your streets Terri. :^O  How did you go with the storms and rain in the Central West last night?  Hope it didn't rain on the parade. :^O

Great that you got some rain up there Hynes.  It's SO green down here and I'm happy for you to take rain off us.  Apparently it's going to rain ALL this week. :_|

Hi all, Well I have finished with Elvis! I think anyone who wants to work over this last weekend can do so in at least one job. There are still one or two concerts finishing up and lots of people to leave tomorrow but things are getting back to normal.

It didn't rain today until late this afternoon and then not too heavy, yesterday was late afternoon too but a lot of rain in a short time. Didn't worry me. LOL
