Is this Smokey Quartz? What's the value?

Hi, hoping someone who knows can offer me some info. Picked this up at a garage sale for $5 as it was an unusual one, daughter not too keen on this one. It weighs 1.545 kg and measures about 17cm x 17cm x 14 high. Many thanks for any help offered!
