The latest repros or fakes on the market are now selling on ebay as the real thing.
I went to an antique centre in Sydney last week and saw 4 of the same figures for sale in 4 shops and all were marked H-19. The sellers showed varying degrees of honesty in their descriptions but all were priced fairly in the range of $99 to 120. They all had silly necklaces which is obviously not original to Barsony ladies.
They are a much matter black than the real thing which has a shine to the surface and the bases are poorly finished with out a foot rim. So any real Barsony fan would know them in an instant as repro. But so many people want Barsony now that these will sell like hot cakes to the less experienced buyers.
This one was listed yesterday 290654904038 and another went on today for an even greater price and it is just not fair to those poor buyers.
So be on the look out for the next model that will be produced very soon I would think,

FL- 27 is a repro now. Some sellers are honest and say so. Others add the fittings and get good money.
The ones in the listing that I added are all fakes. But three in a row looks convincing in the pictures.
It's a shame for the collectors as many Barsony were not actually marked with the name and now they will be very hard to sell even if genuine.

It was good to see someone listing a warning about fakes by actually placing a genuine Barsony for sale but calling it a fake. Well done. 🙂
NB: The Hawain girls are easy to spot as a fake...but I reckon it will become more difficult to distinguish in the future.

Hi, what an interesting and informed discussion.
This is deviating slightly, but can anyone tell me the difference between a Barsony and a Kalmar back stamp? They appear to be identical. I'm confused about whether an 'H' for a figurine, as in my attachments, can indicate a Barsony figurine or not? How can you tell a Barsony from a Kalmar ??

370641398865 So is this a barsony or not? I would have thought not because of the strange marking number under it.

Hi Sooz,
Not. Probably the original was a German piece from the number code. Others may know more about this?
But this is probably not original either. But certainly not Barsony

Hello,
I was wondering if I post some pics of my Hawaiin girl if you can tell me if she is fake or not?

Yes, please do. 🙂

Hi everyone
Just wanted to let you all know that in April 2013 the reproductions are still being sold as originals - I was at an antique fair today and spotted one. Either the dealer didn't know what it was (if he thought it was genuine) or he didn't know it was a reproduction but the price (and condition) did not reflect a genuine Barsony lamp base. Like the others that have popped up they are being sold without fittings.
I bought the two here in retrolover7587's message in this thread from another shop knowing they weren't Barsony so I was okay with it but others are still being duped.
