Reproduction Barsony Ladies H 19

The latest repros or fakes on the market are now selling on ebay as the real thing.

I went to an antique centre in Sydney last week and saw 4 of the same figures for sale in 4 shops and all were marked H-19. The sellers showed varying degrees of honesty in their descriptions but all were priced fairly in the range of $99 to 120. They all had silly necklaces which is obviously not original to Barsony ladies.

They are a much matter black than the real thing which has a shine to the surface and the bases are poorly finished with out a foot rim. So any real Barsony fan would know them in an instant as repro. But so many people want Barsony now that these will sell like hot cakes to the less experienced buyers.

This one was listed yesterday 290654904038 and another went on today for an even greater price and it is just not fair to those poor buyers.

So be on the look out for the next model that will be produced very soon I would think,

Pip

Do you know if this is a fake? I just won it then realised it had multiple dots around the rim. Everything else looks so genuine though. Help?

Also is this a fake?

They both look genuine to me (the first especially) however it's hard to tell without handling them plus I am not an expert.

Somewhere else in this discussion topic someone mentioned that the reproductions seem to have an extra join line underneath. I've just checked my repro FL-27 and I can easily see the unrefined seam line.

There are a couple of points below that may help too:

Re: Reproduction Barsony Ladies H 19

Hi, could I please get a scan of the booklet?

It would be very useful for trying to create a lampshade for my missing barsony one.

My email is walkercbrian@hotmail.com

Thanks

I possess an authentic pink FL36 which notwithstanding its originality,  is not signed, have you or your readers Pip, encountered many like mine?

I appreciate your help in that instance.

Kind regards and a very happy Easter to all,

Pascale

Re: Reproduction Barsony Ladies H 19

Sorry guys, IT IS SIGNED it has the 'FL36' with the name 'Barsony' hardly visible -can only be seen under side lighting- incised in the black base...

A similar one is currently listed on eBay # 251502167974, that will give me an idea of its worth, although the seller wants only $520 when I thought those were worth a lot more some years ago, strange market following the GFC, or is that the reason?...

Cheers,

Pascale

Re: Reproduction Barsony Ladies H 19

Always better to look at completed sales - I can see 11 - prices seem to hover around mid to high 200, with original shade obviously increasing the price. Then some colour variations may be rarer (and more valuable) than others. Condition (like earrings, diamantes) is obviously important, also working condition. Prices? The flooding of the market with repros has inevitably damaged the price - the people who just want the look don't care whether it's an original or not, while those who do care may be hesitant to buy. I am not an expert on Barsony but you do see an awful lot of it around these days.

Re: Reproduction Barsony Ladies H 19

supply seems to have caught up with demand to an extent.  a lot of items have lost value on Ebay in more recent times. collectors will still pay a premium for the less common lamps.
