The latest repros or fakes on the market are now selling on ebay as the real thing.
I went to an antique centre in Sydney last week and saw 4 of the same figures for sale in 4 shops and all were marked H-19. The sellers showed varying degrees of honesty in their descriptions but all were priced fairly in the range of $99 to 120. They all had silly necklaces which is obviously not original to Barsony ladies.
They are a much matter black than the real thing which has a shine to the surface and the bases are poorly finished with out a foot rim. So any real Barsony fan would know them in an instant as repro. But so many people want Barsony now that these will sell like hot cakes to the less experienced buyers.
This one was listed yesterday 290654904038 and another went on today for an even greater price and it is just not fair to those poor buyers.
So be on the look out for the next model that will be produced very soon I would think,

I'd love to be able to find the LAMP I remember that was on the table next to our cane settee when I was around 6 or 7 years old. :-x
It was just a head / bust & I'm pretty sure the lady had a yellow full head-scarf on and only one hand sorta draped across onto the opposite shoulder. I remember little star or asterix-shapes too ( perhaps on the scarf or maybe they were painted on around her wrist like a bracelet ?:| ) & I well remember being told not to keep picking at the little jewels in the centre of 'em. 😮
FINALLY FOUND HER - Same as this red scarf one only ours was yellow 260827953839
WOW !!!

Did Barsony make salt and peppers? 260937532975.
No wonder it is so nice and clean 110816542950 it almost looks like it was made yesterday. The colours looks good though, I have seen lamps touched up with acylic paints they don't look to flash. Cheers Billy

I appear to have upset a button pusher. I do apologise :-x

i thought the brown one being rare would do better than the 'reproductions' . even if most find the black lamps more attractive, rarity and authenticity must count for something. someone got a bargain i think.

Wholesale price for the fake barsony`s is $27.50 plus GST so keep that in mind when your bidding and there shoudn`t be confusion that they are genuine, just seeing them tells you they are not the real mccoys. Sadly a few are sitting on the shelves in the antique centre that I am a vendor at but none of them are marked on their price tags as Barsonys. Personally I think they are ugly and people would be better waiting or saving to buy an original.
