Would really appreciate any assistance from Character/Toby Jug Collectors.

Please can anyone help identify this mysterious little Character Jug; any assistance or comments would be gratefully received, to date I have received a small amount of information from a gentleman who collects both Toby Jugs and Character Jugs, but unfortunately he too is totally mysterfied by this slightly ugly little piece.

His input so far is as follows:

"Character Jug, likely made in Staffordshire possibly Yorkshire because of the glaze colours. Earthenware after the Crimea war 1860-1870 hence no maker. it’s not Devonware colours are right but cream earthenware not redware pottery."

I'd really love to know whether I've purchased a "silk purse" or a "sow's ear".
