Re: wentworthy park

Hi Pip

I just got back from Victoria and on my way back to Adelaide, I drove past a small town called "Beaufort". There were a couple of junk shops in this town. I went to this "shed" and I spotted a pair of Diana??? bookends.

The pair is unmarked and no sticker label attached but it looks very much like Diana pottery. One bookends has a dog and the other one has a rabbit on it. Price tag $235, but seller is willing to reduce the price to $180. One of these bookends has a chip on the base. I didn't get a photo of the bookends (battery's flat), but the dog on the bookend is similar to the ashtray (dog and frog), Even the glaze looks the same, so no doubt these are Diana.

Just thought you might be interested, or you might already owned them in your collection.

Cheers

Re: wentworthy park

Hi Brenton,

Thanks a lot for thinking of me and even negotiating a deal for me, that is very kind of you. Because I have been collecting Diana for quite a number of years now I have manged to get quite a lot of goodies tucked away.

The bookends are of course Diana and nice early pieces. I have managed to find quite a few variations over time. As you mentioned they use the animals from the ashtrays. So I have sets with the dog and rabbit looking at each other round the wall and other pairs that are just dogs and also just rabbits. But the best pair that I found is the rabbit looking round the wall and the upright rabbit sitting looking over the wall, like they are playing hide and seek.

So I don't need them myself but you should keep your eyes open and see what others you might find,

Cheers,

Pip
