I know you are a US company with some rather silly US ideas on marketing. But the removal of the actual new matches from my saved search emails is about the dumbest thing you could have done. I do not want to see everything, I want to be appraised of new matches. This is something now denied me. Another reason to stop my saved searches and rediuce my exposure to ebay. I know huge list of stuff generally meet my criteria and I want to see what s new.
When I limit a search to a set distance. I find it incredibly insulting of you to offer me international sellers. Do they have the item I am searching for in the local area. No they don't. Am I the stupid one for putting up with this? Or you the online retailer driving off customers. Personally, I think it is the latter.
It is time ebay, to start listening to your customers. You make your slick marketing site better and better for someone. But it is not a good auction site anymore and it is questionable as an online marketplace. The only reason I am still here is I refuse to buy from the slave labour hire firm over at Bezos land and their marketing is much worse that yours, with actively dishonest locations being offered.

eBay neither read here nor respond here, we are just members like yourself.
I agree with you on the "saved searches" and have contacted eBay a few times via their "tell us what you think" link with no response.

Essentially eBay changes appear to be implemented by people with no idea how eBay operates for buyers and sellers, and are very unlikely to change their "innovations" just because members object to them.

Ebay do not read here.
I know that whenever I search for something and filter Australia, for example, it usually shows me a range of Aussie sellers and then international sellers separated at the bottom of the search results. Sellers are paying to be seen globally on Ebay, so when you search for something, if Ebay cannot fit your local criteria, it will search elsewhere and present you with results for the same item, which in this case happens to be overseas.
Anyway, the best way to protect yourself and buy domestic is to see where a seller is registered, not where the item appears to be "located". You can see seller info on their feedback/profile page.

@unicornssecond,
As has been said, by posting on these boards you are not communicating with eBay.
These are community discussion boards - a public forum to which eBay members post (that is, buyers and sellers, often long-time eBayers who have a lot of experience in using eBay, knowing its policies and how to navigate those policies to the best advantage or least disadvantage). They/we are often able to offer helpful advice or suggestions.
While eBay employees are not barred from posting on these boards, eBay has very clear policies on how those employees present themselves and identify themselves. See eBay employee trading and community content policy.
eBay employees may, for example, have a username such as michelleoz@ebay.com (real example) without a blue border, or tomai_oz (real example) with "eBay Employee" showing under the username and with a blue border around the post. I believe that the reason for michelleoz's posts not having the blue border and not having "eBay Employee" shown under the username are due to the date of her posts - prior to the boards being upgraded.
In actual practice, it's been a long time since an eBay employee has posted on these boards. The tomai ID, for example, hasn't been seen on these boards since 2019. The boards are not moderated by eBay; they are outsourced to Khoros, and the moderators are employees of Khoros. A post by a moderator here is not a post by an eBay representative. Moderators post only to quote community guidelines, to explain why a thread is locked or to remind posters of the guidelines if a thread contains abusive/policy-breaking posts, and so on.
So... when you post "you" and "your" on the boards, you are complaining to a doctor making a house call or the pizza deliverer about the unpolished floorboard in the big house next door... so to speak.
On to the issue you've mentioned...
Again, as has been said previously, the eBay users here seem by and large to agree that the new search results are frustrating and almost useless. The change is not applauded. It doesn't mean that eBay care... and although it's hard (or impossible) to see why the change has been implemented, eBay are unlikely to change it just because we don't like it.
You can complain to eBay if you want. Use the link posted by padi - but as padi has said, "answer came there none." (Or words to that effect.)
You can also communicate with eBay by sending them what they call an "unsolicited idea". From a previous post that I've made in another thread:
eBay have an Unsolicited idea submissions policy in which they say:
❝At eBay, we appreciate comments from our members on our products and services. But we have a long-standing policy of not accepting unsolicited suggestions, ideas, or proposals.
[...]
What happens if I send a suggestion to eBay?
We appreciate your input, but we can't respond to suggestions that are sent to eBay.
[...]
Unsolicited idea submissions
eBay is always pleased to hear from members of the eBay community and welcomes their comments regarding eBay's products and services. However, eBay's long-standing company policy does not allow eBay to accept or consider ideas, suggestions, proposals or materials other than those eBay has specifically requested.❞
Some of this is in code. Here is the key:
"appreciate comments from our members" =
"appreciate your input" =
"always pleased to hear from members of the eBay community" =
"welcomes their comments regarding eBay's products and services" =
However, if you want to go ahead with contacting eBay with your dissatisfaction re the saved searches, here's the link.
It's already been mentioned, but I'll highlight this aspect. On eBay, items can be deemed to be in Australia even if they are not technically or literally in Australia. This is based on the "just in time fulfilment" ideal. I've discussed this previously on other threads in these boards; probably the best one to read is this thread.

G'day GP. Joking aside, it's a sad indictment of eBay's lack of awareness of how their "improvements" rarely actually improve eBay's functionality for their users - and are blind to members trying to show them that they are continually "fixing" things that were never broken in the first place.......
