Return request

I have just received a return request.   I sold a recipe book on the 20th of Feb, it is now the 23rd of March.  The reason for the request is "not what she thought it would be, thought it would have more recipes".     This book was in excellent, near new condition.  The listing showed pictures of the front, back, sides of the book, as well as pictures of the contents and several random pages inside the book.    She has had this book for weeks!  My money is now on hold and ebay have approved her request and asked her to send the book back to me.   Is this a joke?    This seems like buyer remorse to me, and I am so disappointed  in ebay .

I’ve just checked one of your listings. You have returns accepted; that means the buyer can return for change of mind.

It’s too late to change things for this particular case, but you should immediately change your refund policy / settings if you don’t want to be a “try it and return it” free loan station.

The “returns accepted” option only refers to buyer’s remorse, since returns/refunds for items not as described are enabled no matter what, and covered under the MBG.

I have been on eBay since 2010.

I have never accepted returns….. and have never had a return for INAD…..

Don’t do it

You offer 30 day returns, which means the buyer can return the item for any reason, no questions asked, within 30 days of delivery.

As such ebay will automatically accept the return.

Thank you for replying,   this is my first return.  I have turned the refund policy off.  Not much I can do about this return unfortunately but you have helped me with any further returns for change of mind.   Thank you

Thank you.  I have turned the accept refund button off.  I'm no longer accepting returns.  Thanks for replying, 😊

Yes, it's  been dealt with and closed by ebay.   I had no say whatsoever and can't appeal it either.   I didn't realise I could not accept refunds.   I have now changed the refund policy.   Happy to refund damaged, lost or IND, but someone changing their mind when all of the details were in the listing is annoying.   Thanks for your reply. 😊
