1 death and 2 maulings in 3 weeks

An 82 year old woman going for  a stroll with her husband and 2 staffy/mastiff crosses burst through their front door to attack.

She is in hospital with severe heard injuries.

How awful for that elderly couple, especially the woman, to be subjected to that. I hope they have hefty fines in WA for having unregistered, dangerous dogs.

Edit: read this in the link: Tougher penalties will apply for offences involving dangerous dogs under proposed new laws that were introduced to the WA parliament in June.

The spokeswoman said she understood the dogs were both American staffordshire-mastiff cross, and were unregistered.

And if you want some stats of the damage these dogs do then you don't have to look far to see the horrific truth.

And my stat is wrong - it should read:

1 death and 5 maulings in 3 weeks.

Because another attack has occurred: A 43 year old mum walking her 2 year old (lucky he was in a pram) was attacked yesterday morning by a pitbull cross. She has severe leg injuries. 

The 2 policeman who responded to the call and found the dogs in a nearby street were also attacked.

2 staffy x's appeared at our walk this morning (500 people) Looked like they were lost:( Very friendly and well trained, yet one STUPID woman kicked out at them!

They were picked up by a couple of police offices and popped in the back of the police van. I do hope the owners have now located them.

I am fed up with dog owners saying that their dogs have never been aggressive to their children or others and were trustworthy.

No dog is trustworthy.

I have two wee Maltese crosses who are angels with me and our friends....but I would never trust them.

Domesticity. training, love and kindness means nothing when their genes and dna are triggered unexpectedly BECAUSE THEY ARE DOGS.

There are more bashings, murders and attacks by humans than dog attacks. Now that is sad.

I think I heard on the news that the penalties are going to be tougher for dogs.
