My son was due 01. 01. 01
I went to work on Saturday and Sunday as usual. Xmas day was Monday.
I felt really heavy on the Sunday. When I went to the bathroom I had a show.
I got one of the medical texts from the bookcase and looked it up and it said a show typically means delivery in the next few weeks.
Well I knew that as I was due in one week, so I carried on with work. Had another show later in the shift and felt heavy still.
Went home, waters broke during the night and mu son was a Xmas day baby.
And he got a lovely hand embroidered Xmas candy cane singlet from the midwife.

Pfft, medical textbooks sound like most other textbooks, give the average symptoms/outcomes to be expected, which will be accurate for on-one.
My mother told me that after you get the 'show' you're going in a day or two, maybe three tops. She was right, with my first one.
Second one came rather quickly and was lucky to land on the delivery table.
Third one, hhmmmm..... the nurses tried to sent me home an hour after I got there, saying i wasn't ready.
I said, "third baby, it's coming and I'm staying", and three minutes later my waters broke and it was on for young and old.
