The only American citizen aboard a doomed Malaysia Airlines flight was identified Friday as a dual national.

Quinn Lucas Schansman, who lived in both the Netherlands and the United States, was mentioned by President Obama at a news conference about the plane brought down by a missile strike.

According to Obama, a review of passenger passports indicates that Schansman was the only U.S. citizen among the 298 victims.

Schansman, who lived and attended school in Amsterdam, was reportedly headed for a family vacation in Malaysia when he boarded Flight 17 from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur.

I wouldn't read anything into that though. Just not many people from the US wanting to fly Amsterdam to Malaysia.
