True, you do need some training to operate something like that, BUT do not forget that every reasonably fit young man in the former Soviet union spends 2 years in the army.  It is not impossible that some of the rebels have enough knowledge to operate such launcher.  Not to mention that there have been suggestions that Russians sent an expert to teach them the basics of  how to operate it.  The rebels have shot down about 50 military planes with the smaller missiles (3 000ft.) so the Ukrainain supply planes started to fly higher, out of reach.  While it is most likely that the BUK came from Russians, there is always the chance it was acquired from the Ukraine; they also have them in their **bleep**nal.  The rebels managed to get their hands on many eapons that way. 

OMG!  it bleeped out ar*enal   !!!  LOL

What happened is a tragedy, as any plane crash is. BUT it was an accident, there is no need to start WW3 over it.

I have a problem with some of the images being shown on TV, particularly of the one where someone in a body bag is being unceremonisly dumped onto a truck, do families of the victims need to see that?

I'd prefer to think that people on CS would be feeling sympathy and empathy for those people and their families rather than debating mythical and insensitive (and often ludicrous) scenarios for what happened.

This isn't like the other Malaysian flight. There is no mystery. There is enough video footage available to determine exactly what happened. The culprits will be exposed. There is no coverup. There are no creepy coincidences.

Creating theories just for drama and to feed your own ego is a low act for those Australians affected.

Not always, but I can be pretty **bleep** sure that every single newspaper and every news agency in the world isn't being censored and controlled by "THEM" Whoever "THEM"  happens to be in any given place or at any given time.

Journalists don't simply sit at their desks writing up stuff they receive through press releases, they go to the places where events have actually  taken place and speak to people who were actually there. They put therir lives on the line to get their stories and sometimes - like Peter Greste - they end up in jail for seeking the truth and refusing to be censored. 

How do you think the world got to hear about the Mai Lei Massacre or the Watergate affair?
