I believe now most Chinese are strongly not in favour of wild game on the menu , particularly live caught wild game.

The post was also interesting mentioning the surprising ( to me) large number and species of wild animals within Hubei province

The Chinese in general are known for eating almost anything and responsible for the eradication of many of the world species due to consumption.
So called old traditional medicines have seen species in many countries reduced to endangered if not extinction levels.
Scientific evidence has found many of these traditional methods of stimuli or healing to have zero scientific physical benefit on the human body.
As well, the consumption of 'foods' gained through capture or theft of domesticated animals is also rife even though not admitted by Chinese authorities. Not to mention the lack of hygiene.

Almost every animal in China is considered vermin, so hurt them, kill them, eat them.
