I never click on links or subscribe to anything but my PayPal account was just hacked.
Just to let you all know to check your PayPal account and call them if there are any unauthorised purchases.
Or check your email, I received 2 receipts for purchases I didn't make.
PayPal immediately put a stop on my account and I changed password.
They also suggested I call the bank and put a temporary block on my card which I did.
Someone purchased an expensive camera tripod and stun guns using my PayPal and having them sent to Russia.
First time this has happened to me but PayPal were terrific.
I also reported the ebay listings as they appear to have been hijacked.

Same here, I just delete the fake ones. But these were actual PayPal emails.
They had made the purchases but PayPal hadn't debited my account yet so managed to stop them without losing any money.
Talk about on the ball.
Good thing you keep such a close eye out.
Going to check mine now.

It's scary though
Almost as scary as just waving a card past a machine.
Think it is for items up to $100 - but do it often enough - few $$$$$$$ - if you lose your card.
I always make a point of inserting & using my PIN.

how did you tell the difference?

when I raised this a couple of weeks ago, I was abused for putting it on CS and for not putting it on the buying board, and subsequently my thread was moved.
I still maintain it belonged on the CS to warn people, but, the person who jumped up and down on my thread, thought NOT amd obviously reported it..

the email addresses of the fake ones aren't quite right, so it's pretty easy to tell if you look at those

Just be careful you haven't contracted the Poweliks virus. It normally comes from rogue emails, but some people are catching it in unknown ways. Most run of the mill virus scanners and malware scanners don't detect it and the few that do, can't get rid of it as it affects registry files. It's a nasty virus, which sends all your info to somewhere in Russia and is very hard to get rid of.
Most people don't know they've got it until the find their accounts are being hacked and their computer is running a bit sluggish. You can usually find it yourself by checking Task Manager. There will be multiple instances of dllhost.exe and dllhost*32.exe running and using all your CPU. CPU is generally running at 100%. This virus is constantly sending every single thing you do to Russia, including every message you write on here. It's quite scary. It's rampant at the moment.
Thanks for the heads up about checking our accounts.
