" I always found it strange to see some oranges imported from Mexico or South America when Florida is the orange growing capitol of the world.  "

We import Oranges from overseas because it is cheaper and the fruit in Mildura is left to rot.

A stink got kicked up one year and Coles or Wollies took them and dumped the huge picking crate on the floor

and stuck a sign on it saying .99c a kg. They didn't last long.

They also buy OJ Concentrate from South America and ship it to Mildura and it costs 3 cents a litres,

delivered from half way across the world. 3 cents.

Those figures came from a fruit grower in Mildura.

I posted a picture of Lemonade on the photo thread. The small lemons are from a friends tree, and the huge lemons are from my tree.

Mine are still a little green, but still taste good. USA lemons.

I don't blame you for not wanting to buy lemons(imported from the U.S.), when they are grown locally.

I'm always on the lookout for locally grown lemons. Sometimes ppl bring them to work if they have lemon trees at home, sometimes I get a bag full of them from my Mother in Law who gets them from her neighbour.

I go through about 3 lemons a week, use the juice for salad dressing and like lemon in my tea.

Nothing against our American friends, but I don't buy American citrus when our own orchards have been ploughed into the ground.

We won't have a citrus industry at the rate we are going.

Might not even have a fruit industry either.

Aus industry, both agriculture and manufacturing has been systematically dismantled over the last 50 years or so.

All we'll have soon is the mining industry, and that's not even ours anymore.

I live in Kiwi fruit country here and NO we do not import Kiwi fruit from China.

Do you actually think the kiwi fruit growers here would put up with that what a load of **bleep**.

I have never seen fruit from China in the super market here, how ever when I was in QLD I saw Oranges from china for sale in the super market.
