The agenda for this months meeting of the Liberal party in melbourne includes the discussion topic of selling off the ABC and SBS. Why is this fervour for selling off public broadcasters suddenly on the agenda ?
do they fear the minutest amount of honest broadcasting, and do they think it a better media environment for them will exist if nobody out there is in any position to criticise ? its not as if the ABC are backing the other side of politics .. if anything the ABC has a distinct conservative tone to its news and current affairs programs these days.
So much for all the breast-beating around 'freedom of the press'
selling the public broadcasters is suppressing such freedoms surely ?

TS: "Ahhhh The Liberal Agenda....privatise everything."
Ahhhh The ALP Agenda....privatise the Commonwealth Bank
Ahhhh The ALP Agenda deregulate the banking industry in the mid-1980s Whoops there goes tricontenental and the State Bank of Victoria to the CBA, Whoops there goes the CBA.
Strangely they did well after they privatised, I have shares in both!
