AFP Raid Channel 7 over Schapelle Corby

AFP Raid Channel 7 over Schapelle Corby

It must be a joke, surely???

VETERAN Channel Seven journalist Mike Willesee has hit out at the Australian Federal Police raid on the network’s headquarters this morning, saying it would not reveal anything because Schapelle Corby has not been paid.

There were “heated scenes” at Channel Seven’s Sydney headquarters today as its offices were raided by the AFP.

It is understood Federal police were looking for evidence of the lucrative media deal the Corby family reportedly signed on behalf of Schapelle for her first post-prison interview with Seven’s current affairs flagship program, Sunday Night.

At the end of the day she is a convicted drug smuggler (whether you believe it or not), she should not be able to command millions for an interview.  And nor should any media outlet pay it.  Is it really going to rate that well?  perhaps, who knows.  People are asking the question couldn't police resources be spent on more important matters?  well surely the media can spend there money on more worthy interview subjects as well. I honestly think in a few weeks time if not already nobody is going to care what she does and I think the family are aware of that and trying to get as much money as they can before it all dries up.  With the money they have already received in the seven libel payout and other magazine deals they could live the rest of their lives in Bali like kings and we would never have to hear of them again.

The police money should be used more usefully as its our tax payer $$ someone is wasting for no real outcome, if a deal is done there is nothing they can do about it unless she is here in OZ with the funds in a Oz bank, as things are that is not the case and any efforts are just a wast of time.

As for channel 7 it is their money they are wasting and not ours so they are free to spend it anyway they wish, the only people that have a right to complain are the advertisers that pay money to promote their goods or services.

If they are unhappy about it they can boycott them and spend their money else where and as a viewer you can opt to do the same thing.

Like it or not, I reckon the ratings will go through the roof on the night chnl 7 airs the Schapelle Corby interview. It will be money well spent for Channel 7.

The irony is, it was a Channel 7 reporter she was annoyed with.

because the channel 7 reporter misrepresented her in the interview she gave in good faith.

Not sure how that makes her anything except angry/disappointed/annoyed enough to tell them. One thing to remember is, the Corby family are not chasing channel 7 or anyone else begging to be interviewed.

Update:

Schapelle Corby warned as Justice Minister rules no TV interview

INDONESIA’S Justice Minister has given his sternest warning yet to Schapelle Corby about controversial plans for a media interview.

Amir Syamsuddin said Schapelle Corby’s case had become quite a sensation and it was time that Corby and her family realise that she is inmate enjoying parole whose parole can be revoked.

Mr Syamsuddin said the Bali parole board had already given the correct answer that there was to be no interview and that the parole board had made itself clear.

“The correctional board has rejected (the interview). She will be better if she realises that she is still an inmate who enjoys parole. And one of condition for enjoying parole is the parole could be revoked if she causes restlessness,” Mr Syamsuddin

how do u know that Azure?  seriously?  I can't believe that u actually believe that. U are obviously pro the family which is evident in every post u make and thats your choice but please don't expect the rest of us to believe that.  As far as everyone else saying the police money could be better spent elsewhere, the law is the law, no matter who you are.

Don't be ridiculous!

I have no connection to the family, know only what has been in the media but I do know how it works............. it's all abouT the $ with the media, not surprising though, they need to sell their work.

Interviews are done, then they are chopped to pieces and put back together for the best impact!

I expect nothing, I am not making any attempt to have anyone believe anything but I will correct the stupidity I see.

The money could have been better spent as it produced nothing except more attention to the family and an apology from the AFP........................

As FOR THE FAMILY LOBBYING.....................

Ketut Artha says Corby's Balinese brother-in-law, Wayan Widyartha, met him this week to campaign for the convicted drug smuggler.

There could possibly be a really good reason for his request, perhaps he thinks if she gives an interview the media will leave her alone, not an unreasonable expectation?

I have no idea if she is guilty, as convicted, however, there are just as many reasons to suggest she is innocent, as there are to suggest her guilt. IMO

Re: AFP Raid Channel 7 over Schapelle Corby

I think its all a bit sick, paying criminals for stories.

And lets face it, we already know her story its been told a million times over the years and I fail to see how people are still interested.

And to be honest, if she is going to be so disrespectful to the Indonesian parole board and go ahead with an interview, paid or not, she deserves to be back in the slammer. If it were me I'd be keeping as low a profile as possible.
