It must be a joke, surely???

VETERAN Channel Seven journalist Mike Willesee has hit out at the Australian Federal Police raid on the network’s headquarters this morning, saying it would not reveal anything because Schapelle Corby has not been paid.

There were “heated scenes” at Channel Seven’s Sydney headquarters today as its offices were raided by the AFP.

It is understood Federal police were looking for evidence of the lucrative media deal the Corby family reportedly signed on behalf of Schapelle for her first post-prison interview with Seven’s current affairs flagship program, Sunday Night.

regardless of how many times she is asked to be interviewed she just needs to use a little self control and say

No...it's not that hard to say No...is it???

Odds on............. if she would have said No all those years ago then we would not be having this debate now

Even in the US, they will grant foreigners entry to their country with a serious conviction (drugs, assault etc) if it has been more than five years since the conviction and you attend an interview at the US embassy and show evidence of how you have changed and won't be a threat to America and its country.

That is not correct information.

Apart from that, it is very hard for any Australian to get residency in the US let alone a convicted drug smuggler, fresh out of serving a 9+ year sentence.

Grounds of Inadmissability - Admission into the United States

You will not be able to enter or remain in the United States if you:

  • are a drug abuser (tried it more than once in the last 3 years is enough for USCIS to specify you as a drug abuser)

  • have committed or been convicted of a crime of moral turpitude (a crime considered morally wrong or done with bad intention

  • have been convicted of specified crimes such as prostitution or drug trafficking

  • are the immediate family of a drug trafficker and have knowingly benefitted from their illicit money in the last 5 years

  • + many more reasons

Crime of moral turpitude:

23/12/2012

The Board of Immigration Appeals has determined that a conviction for the intentional distribution of a controlled substance or a conviction for drug  trafficking is now considered to a crime involving moral turpitude.

Update:

Schapelle Corby's brother-in-law will try to make a deal today with Indonesian authorities allowing the convicted drug smuggler to give her controversial TV interview.

Wayan Widiartha, who is married to Corby's sister Mercedes, is reportedly set to meet with parole officials and invite them to sit in on the interview with Network Seven's veteran journalist Mike Willesee.

Grease a few palms, then did we Mr Widiartha?

Willessee said Corby herself is "good to go" for an interview and they are now just waiting for permission from Indonesian authorities to proceed.

I knew they wouldn't rest until they found a way to get it.

Willessee added that any agreement they reach would "barely" limit the scope of the interview.

Last night Seven's chief executive Tim Worner admitted that an Australian Federal Police raid on Seven's Sydney offices on Tuesday unearthed a secret agreement between the network and the Corby family, The Australian reports.

But oh. the outrage and protests of innocence!

The agreement remained unsigned, however, and did not provide details of any payment Seven is offering.

Of course palms were greased, that is a part of life there.  Palms have been greased from day one nine years ago, and before.   BIL stands to benefit ++ from his involvement.  Stomach churning to me.  Some people here consider Corby a victim, "even if she's guilty".  She's no victim.  She's just a Logan Bogan.

Having said that, I don't begrudge her the money.

And I'll be waiting with bated breath for the interview, for sure.

Schapelle lived on the Gold Coast didn't she? how does that make her a Logan Bogan?

they don't have bogan's in other places?

what definition have you used?

She was not in the public eye before she was arrested in Bali, her interviews have all presented her as a normal single woman, far from Bogan, imo.

They must not have used very good grease.

Smiley LOL Good point, Schapelle would have been out in days or months if they did.

'Bogan' doesn't necesarrily = drug addicts or drug smugglers either.

I don;t think anyone should proft from proceeds of crime.. Spend 9 years in jail and earn $1m+ selling your story.. that would make them better off $$ wise,  than if they had not committed a crime and went to jail.
