I guess these greedy people earning under $37,000 won't be buying Flatsceen Tv's, cigarettes and cartons of beer come tax time
As a Galaxy poll shows 62 per cent of women harbour concerns over the Opposition leader, Australia's peak welfare body and Labor are targeting Mr Abbott over the $800 million savings measure.
The Coalition plans to scrap the $500 co-contribution for workers earning less than $37,000, a move that will affect thousands of women in some of the country's most marginal seats.
In western Sydney, around 25,000 women will lose the benefit in the Labor-held seats of Lindsay and Greenway, while nearly 13,000 low-paid women in the Victorian regional seat of Corangamite, held by Labor's Darren Cheesman, will also miss out.
Brisbane, one of the Liberals' most marginal electorates, also has a high number of working women, around 15,000, who stand to lose the $500 payment.
The Gillard Government hopes that Mr Abbott's negative standing with many women will allow it to "sandbag" crucial marginal seats at the September 14 poll.
Around 60 per cent, or 2.1 million, of the 3.6 million workers hit by the Coalition super policy are women, and female workers generally hold around 50 per cent of the total super savings held by men.

Either you agree with the tax free threshold or you don't, forget the rest. Lower income workers are better off with the current threshold, FACT.
Still trying to spot the relevance there. The issue I was raising is the article turning it into an Abbott attack on women.
They may be out there somewhere, but I personally know of very few, if any, sub $40,000 earners who can afford to part with any of that income as super co-contributions anyway.

I didn't say that either.
60/40 split. The article could have remained gender neutral, rather than inferring a misogynist beat up in support of Gillard's gender based agenda.
for workers earning less than $37,000, a move that will affect thousands of women in some of the country's most marginal seats.
And thousands of men too. 40% (not all that far off half) of those lower income workers.

so it affects Men and Women, just more women. gender is only an issue because more of those women perform dual roles.. which is no small consideration in terms of cost.
the point is that the plan is to take money from low payed workers.. effectively place a new tax, and this is a vote-winning idea ? maybe they feel those on a higher income are in a mood to punish these upstarts. but a tax hike ? for low paid workers? there's nothing positive in that.

it says more about the gullibility of Australians. he talks of a 'great big new tax' and then takes away much more. and they are still too daft to get it.
Oh stop, my sides are splitting:^O It says more about the gullibility of Australians???? your've got to be kidding. Here's you, up on your hind legs, supporting Labor till the bitter end and believe me it will be bitter for you & the rest of the rusted on luvvies here.
Oh dear me, woe is me! listen to yourselves. You're all bleating about cuts to welfare, the bloated public service & the mega departments that Labor has conjured up that are good for nothing.
Roll on election, cut the welfare, sack the 350 media in the PM's office, dump the over 500 consultants who are bleeding the govt. dry.
Get a bit of common sense into you, you have nothing, no legs to stand on, all you can all do is resort to name calling & scare tactics. Lets face it, that's what Labor is good at, nothing else.
Oh what new disaster can we expect today from this fiasco of a govt?? what failures, what more in the scandal dept, how many more rats will desert the rotting carcase?
If this govt was a horse you'd shoot it.

People's lives???the party is the only thing that matters, the individual is not important. You should know that brother comrade. Welfare needs to be cut off completely, and then we can put the welfarists to work on our new glorious green party gulag. With opinions like that you won't pass your Marx test.
