Abbott to challenge ACT laws in High Court

He couldn't let it go, could he?

If this gets through, it will be the lowest point of his government I believe.

Why on earth would they do this? Aren't there more important things to do?? Like, umm, stopping the boats? Fixing the economy??

That figure of around 30% is the correct figure, has been since this topic was raised many years ago. This is the reason Gillard never took it to the vote, knowing many in her party would vote against it. This is another reason why the gay rights activists will not ask for a referendum because they know the figures are so low they will lose.

Regurgitating the lie that the majority of people want this is just that, a lie that is happily perpetuated by vested interests.

They did vote on it, in September last year. It was voted down 98 to 42. Gillard allowed a conscience vote while the Libs didn't.

It is the majority of MP's who will not vote for it & your post shows that is correct. The independants voted it down so they lost the vote.

This confirms my post that the Same Sex marriage activists will not agree to a referndum because they know that they do not have the numbers. This is a fact no matter how many times the incorrect stats are parroted on here. It will fail to win a referundum that is why we are getting so much noise & movement, the activists are hoping that that will win the day, hoping it will wear down everybody in the end to give in to a minoroity.

Rubbish. There were only a handful of independents.  Labor allowed a conscience vote and the Libs didn't, that's why it was voted down with such a margin.  Until the Libs allow a conscience vote we will never know how many support it.

It's not something we should have a referendum about, with all the associated BS advertising. That would just get nasty and offensive.
