He couldn't let it go, could he?
If this gets through, it will be the lowest point of his government I believe.
Why on earth would they do this? Aren't there more important things to do?? Like, umm, stopping the boats? Fixing the economy??

Every poll consistently has 70-80% of Australian in favour. Both sides are overwhelmingly in favour. This is a non-issue.
the 70's gay movement despised marriage? Heck, they were barely thinking about marriage at that point cause there was so much other day to day discrimination they needed to deal with. Perhaps you are confusing this movement with the womens lib movement of the same era that oppenly declared marriage was bad for women?
And how are Labor using the issue to wedge out the Abbott government? This is completely nonsensical.
And how did the global warming issue 'die away' during the Labor government? What on earth are you going on about?

Every poll does not declare 75 to 85% are in favour of changing the law. Produce this data from a reputable data miner rather than from the fringe groups who run their own polls.

That figure of around 30% is the correct figure, has been since this topic was raised many years ago. This is the reason Gillard never took it to the vote, knowing many in her party would vote against it. This is another reason why the gay rights activists will not ask for a referendum because they know the figures are so low they will lose.
Regurgitating the lie that the majority of people want this is just that, a lie that is happily perpetuated by vested interests.

no, thats the figure in the parliament (from years back) not public opinion.

But regardless, let's talk about the polls - I challenge YOU to find me a reputable poll that does NOT have high stats in favour. Because here is a comprehensive list of polls that aren't 'fringe groups' all showing high stats in favour.
Sheesh - even the right winged galaxy polls at 68% in favour.

Where on earth do you get the 30% figure from? This is simply incorrect. Are you taking the figures from 2001 or something?
And in regards to the Labor Party support, you are incorrect again. In 2011 at the labor Party conference, the issue was put to the vote and the Labor Party overwhelmingly supported same sex marriage even though Gillard voted in opposition.
With respect, I (and I am sure many others on here) would appreciate it if you posted factual information so we don't have to spend all of our time researching your odd and off track comments with the real answers.
