Adam Goodes Vs the spreaders of hate

We have people spreading the hate for everyone from the PM to the disabled and refugees everyday.

Today we have Adam Goodes, who truly lived up to his name.

It's football. It's an uncultured, aggressive, loutish, tribal and factional sport, played often by people of minimal education and culture.

What does one expect from a crowd which goes to watch a  modern day, but still violent version of gladatorial combat?

Don't you just love it that when New Zealand sportsmen do a war cry it is embraced with cultural pride by all sectors of races in that country. And indeed all around the world. It makes them proud of their heritage and we all look on with approval.

And yet if our indigenous sportsmen dare to do the same the Australian public gets their knickers in a knot and call it 'aggressive and unsportsmanlike'.

Aly Waleed was spot on in his observation.

What a crying shame they aren't reacting to the poor and disrespectful conduct being shown by their fellow spectators.

I don't see it as the same thing - its a tradition of the new zealand sports teams to do this at the start of a game, they don't aim it the spectators.

I doubt anyone would really have the same reaction to the so called war dance being done at the beginning of a game as they did to it being directed at non supporters of the self entitled.

although copying another country would be a bit embarrassing for the players...

who disapproves of our indigenous sportsmen

performing a traditional dance prior to the game?

this discussion is about a player who was inciting

the crowd.   players are usually fined for that.

fans either boo or cheer.

its normal.

those who break any rules are removed

and in some cases banned from attending

games.

Re: Adam Goodes Vs the spreaders of hate

The aboriginal war cry was done many years ago at sports games but according to dr google ceased in the 1960s.

For Julia -

Wallee Mullara Choomooroo Tingal
Nah! Nah! Nah! Nah!
Cannai, Barrang, Warrang, Warrang,
Yallah, Yallah, Yallah, Yallah,
Ah! Jaleeba, Booga, Boorooloong,
Yarnah meei, meei, meei
Meeyarra, Meeyarra, Jeeleebo, Cahwoon,
Cooeewah, Cooeewah, Wahh, Wooh.

We are a race of fighters, descended from the War Gods -
Beware! Beware! Beware! Beware!
Where we fight there will be bloodshed -
Go! Go! Go! Go!
We are powerful, but merciful; are you friends?
Good! Good!
The Kangaroo is dangerous when at bay.
Come on, Come on, to Death.

[Note: The translation above is for information -
the war-cry was not performed in English]

Well I don't love it. The hakka is just another war chant, designed to inflame the courage and aggressiveness of the New Zealand team while at the same time, be a source of intimidation to the opponents. That is what it is and is what it was designed to be all those years ago.

I am no fan of violent sports where the drive for competiveness leads to a magnification of aggression.

It's only a game. But nowadays it is more than that; it's a huge financial enterprise and the cost of financial success is ever increasing aggression and violence.

Well, not in my name, thanks all the same. I'll reserve my pride and approval  for those who actually make a positive contribution to society rather than contribute to its dumbing down.

Another of the lets make it up so it sounds good brigade,(they do nothing but put ideas into peoples heads

to "inflame" things)

There is only one "sportsman" being discussed here not all of them and he's shown that he doesn't believe in

it by directing his "aggression" at the opposition supporters,(but lets lump them all together and then there is

only a very, very small percentage that "do it").

Who was the last one before him?

He doesn't do it before the game or at his own supporters as that wouldn't "inflame" things,(which is why he did it).

It's not done by a team but an individual who has lost the respect of the footballing public,stubborn_smiley_by_mirz123-d4bt0te_zps12f1a5a3.gif
