Adam Goodes Vs the spreaders of hate

We have people spreading the hate for everyone from the PM to the disabled and refugees everyday.

Today we have Adam Goodes, who truly lived up to his name.

Re: Adam Goodes Vs the spreaders of hate

Adam Goodes is as much white as he is black , if not more so , yet he has chosen to only acknowledge one portion of his heritage and claim to be aboriginal

i thought he was aboriginal.

just read his father is of english/

irish/scottish ancestry.

unusual for someone to only identify

themselves with one.

Re: Adam Goodes Vs the spreaders of hate

interesting comments from abc

media watch:

I have been booing Adam Goodes since 2005 when he purposely tripped over Ryan Lonnie. For the people in the know; it is about the football. Can we keep it that way and not have every single person with a political agenda use the football as their "political football"?

I don't think for a moment that Goodes was to blame for the treatment of the young girl; but (and it is a big but) his annoyance at being called an ape was trivial when compared to what happened to her.
To separate a female minor from her family and hold her captive for hours was criminal. If she had been a doctor's daughter from Toorak, there would have been uproar.
I fully support the right of children to say and do silly things, provided that they are given reasonable correction.
PS Calling someone an ape is rude; but it is not racist. Most footballers look like large shambling apes.

and from abc news:

Brisbane Lions great Jason Akermanis has told Adam Goodes to stop "playing the victim" and says those who label the booing of the dual Brownlow medallist as racist are kidding themselves.

As AFL and NRL players rally behind Goodes, who has taken extended leave and is reportedly considering retirement, Akermanis said fans had the right to boo anyone they like, whenever they like.

"Any stupid journalists who said that they're racist is kidding themselves," the Brownlow medallist and triple premiership player told Fox Sports on Thursday.

"I got booed and no-one ever said it was racist. (Former rugby league star) Benny Elias got booed when we were in Queensland because he was from New South Wales. Umpires get booed every week.

"Adam Goodes has got to stop looking like a sook and stop making it about him in this sense, and also he should stop trying to play the victim."

Akermanis said it would be a shame if Goodes decided to retire over the controversy, outlining the 35-year-old needed to make a decision about "whether he's for the club or for himself".

Re: Adam Goodes Vs the spreaders of hate

He isn't, just the racists are.  I don't go around telling people I'm English but I've got a bit of Scottish and Irish in there too and if you want to dig deep enough into my family you'll even find some half coloured South African.

Akermanis!  Haha speaking of people that like to get the media attention.

Who is the writer that has been booing someone for 10 years over something that happened in a game of football LOL.

Re: Adam Goodes Vs the spreaders of hate

Actual Adam played the race card and once you take a position then you open that position up to not only scrutiny but also to outright opposition , had he come out and opposed the booing based solely on the fact that is bad sportsmanship I would be standing shoulder to shoulder with him, he made it about race and therefore I have every right to question and disagree with that stand and I should be able to do that without being labeled racist as this nothing more than an attempt to silence my right to disagree with his stance

I totally agree with that. And not only was she publicy shamed and bullied at the time it happened, she continues to be pubicly shamed and bullied even now, mostly by those who cry the loudest about the appalling, shameful, embarrassing, bullying, (insert more emotive rhetoric) treatment of Adam Goodes.

The double standards are astounding.

I actually feel a bit sorry for Goodes, he's clearly suffering, but pointing at 10's of thousands of ordinary football followers and calling them racist is wrong. I have much more sympathy  for a young girl from a disadvantaged background who continues to be bullied and apparently thats ok with people because she called someone an ape 😞
