Mostly restrict oldies to home quarantine after first establishing an efficient
home delivery system for essentials.
Let all the young ones just go for it and get the economy rolling again.
Some will die but the flu also kills at about the same rate and it's usually
people with a pre-existing condition which makes them vulnerable so what
COVID-19 doesn't get the flu will.
For the most part it will be a mild case of the flu and we having been living
this way since the Spanish Flu pandemic.
The most vulnerable group ( oldies ) will be protected until a vaccine is developed.
We would have to FaceTime our relatives. A small price to pay for the good of mostly all.
Any oldies caught outdoors without an 'effective' face mask will be stripped of excursion rights.
The alternative is sending our country broke.
If put to a vote then most oldies ( including me ) would vote yes.

I express a view put forward by major governments and I am a crack pot. Silly people.Interesting, which major governments would that be and please provide valid links or your comment is pure blither.
Not taking sides as I don't have a firm view on this one, but I have also seen this idea expressed by respected panellists and senior people in general global commentary on the pandemic. Its one idea that is being discussed in global media.
Desperate times require desperate measures and everything should be on the table for discussion. How the idea would work in a co-operative and socially responsible way is the question. I dont claim to have any answers.

America will show us the way.
A whole bunch of morons are crowding in the streets bleeting about
wanting social distancing etc dropped so they can go back to a normal life.
It would be great to see them get their wish with lock downs completely
dropped but state borders still sealed. Just like a giant petri dish.
If, 2 weeks later, there is an explosion of new COVID-19 cases then too
bad for them and we will stay in lock down.
If a few new cases then maybe we get out of lock down and avoid Australia
going bankrupt or ending up more like Greece than we are now.

The majority are complying - the small vocal minority have a right to publicly protest if they desire - protected by Their Bill of Rights - so why object , except probably offends our conformist nanny-state sense of decorum

What? You are the one continually posting that the government should be doing more to protect us from ourselves, and seem to think non-conformists are a threat to sociey.
Let's hope they take their leader's suggestion and ingest a UV light, or inject disinfectant. I'm not sure how either of those would work. They'd have to shove the light down their trachea, or breathe the disinfectant. It could well kill the virus and the idiots people trying it wouldn't complain.

Interestingly the UV wavelength ( UVC ) required would kill everything else as well as the virus.
If the gov didn't tell the world that most COVID-19 infections would result in mild flu like symptoms
then most of the young might take more care.
