Any nomads here?

Just wondering if there's anyone else here living permanently on the road (nomad style) interested in chatting with me now and then? OK with me if by PM or on open boards. Age/sex/relationships irrelevant as only interested in friendly chat now and then.

I have a 2011 Winnebago Menindee 26.5 footer and towing a tandem trailer loaded with my 4x4 with my 12 foot tinnie on top. Vic plates. What are you in/with?

Right now I'm parked up just outside Cooktown Qld and headed across toward Darwin soon but in no hurry

I'm often out of mobile internet areas but will try to stay in touch as best I can

Been on road just over 12 months now

That sounds wonderful.   We're a bit to old to be doing that tho.

Met a lady of 78 couple months back still going strong in her whiz-bang combie. She loves the lifestyle and said she'd keep going until she croaked it as long as they don't stop her and find out she hasn't got a driver's license any more. Not sure if she was joking about that or not 😛

Great old gal too

Has its good points as well as a few not so good ones.

The lifestyle doesn't suit everybody and its seen more than one previously happy relationship go down the gurgler

I'm on my own so nobody to fall out with :^O

Re: Any nomads here?

I'm not living the nomad life, but I envy the lifestyle, looking forward to hearing about your travels.

One of the Crikey Kinder is headed up to Cooktown in 2 weeks and then down to Bloomfield for a bit and will be visiting Wujal-Wujal Falls on one day.

Keep an eye out for him, he'll be the one in the funny hat.

Just got dropped back here from town (read pub :-p) after a great dinner and evening out but not ready to hit the sack yet so doing a bit of internet browsing because I'm still trying to find the sort of scuba gear I'm after buying. Ebay is an absolute waste of time for that kind of thing 😞 Thought it worth trying though

I had never considered I would end up doing the nomad thing until a couple of years ago but now love it. Don't know how long I'll continue for as I'm only a spring chick in my 40's, and it will depend on when I find the kind of place I feel like settling down in for the long term again. Outer Melbourne area won't be it again though, totally over that one even though I still own a house and business premises there still, but only until I'm ready to sell them up to finance my next home and surgery somewhere else

In the meantime the rental incomes from them are keeping the wolf from the door in a style I've learned to enjoy 😄

The past 12 months or so have been the first time in the better part of a decade I've felt as though I'm alive again instead of waking up every day wishing I hadn't so the nightmarish existence continued (long story most people wouldn't believe can happen)

I'll most likely be on my way toward Darwin by the time your rellie hits Cooktown but even if I wasn't I'd still have a hard time trying to pick one person wearing a funny hat from all the others around the place. That kind of town 🙂

I've been here just over a week and will most likely stay on for another one but that'll about do Cooktown for me I think. Only so much fishing anyone wants to do and that's about all there is around here unless you want to spend all day in a pub, but that isn't my thing no matter how much I enjoy a glass or two of vino

I'll keep a weather eye out on the board here until I pull out of town to see if any other nomads shout up but unless there's something more interesting than most of the other topics turns up on these boards I doubt I'll be chipping in much, just waaay too boring for my tastes and the petty sniping I've seen here is waaay too childish (Are they really adults?:|)

Re: Any nomads here?

There is a little town in Northern NSW called Illuka - I reckon that's where I'd like to put down roots once the kinder all grow up - there or there was this little town somewhere between Hobart and Port Arthur - can't remember the name, but it had a famous pie shop and either the first prison or first police station - one of those - was a pretty spectacular view that I reckon I could get used to until it's time to pop me clogs LOL

and if you see my kid in the pub - get cross at him and send him on his way - he's supposed to be up there helping to clear some scrub!

BTW - "adults" is a term used very loosely around here sometimes, but on the whole it's not too bad a place, eh? Some pretty good people here.
