Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I have become adicted to Ancestry.com and am lucky enough that one side of my family can be researched way back into the dim times.

The other side has hit a brick wall and I have to wait until someone else in the world may have more information.

How is everyone else going?

No, I dont have those. I had Patrick snr's a while back but then I took him off the tree in the absence of real evidence that he was connected. The new online data proves he's the right person though.

I could try and explain the family but I think I'd just confuse you more and dont want to sway you one way or another.

Re: Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

Punch.......................there are two marriages for a Patrick Clancy...............both to Mary's

I know the Mary Brady one is yours.

But I am thinking the Mary Morning one is Patricks father..............it says soldier..............and that appears to be him.

What do you think?

The Two Patricks I believe are father and son....................there are burials of family memebers together.

And a child of Mary and Patricks (1862) is registered by the grandmother Mary.

I have not had a chance to look into the Brady side yet.

Re: Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I had thought it was maybe him that married Mary Morning but then I decided it was just a coincidence. I'll go back and have another look.

Re: Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I think not, the Clancy's were Catholic and the Mary Morning marriage was in the Wesleyan church.

Patrick is buried in Catholic cemetery in Cambelltown and Mary is buried in the Fingal Catholic cemetery with her kids.

I also think if he died within 2 years of the marriage its unlikely that his adult children would consider her their mother 25 years later. Patrick junior notified Mary's death as her son.

Re: Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

Yeah I know, and others think Mary's surname was Morrison but they are wrong too. They just havent looked hard enough and they've picked any old record with matching names.

Re: Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I've been thinking it would be good to contact her and see if she got any further with the research. I have been able to trace 2 of Patricks siters which is where I got the others correct maiden name from. Amazing how easy it can be with all those bdm's online.

I might try that email address and see if its still current, most of her message board posts are pretty old though.

lol, you're meant to be helping me...... I'm relying on you to solve the mystery ๐Ÿ™‚

I still have a wild hunch that James Brady who married (or at least had children with) Catherine Garry is somehow connected. The Clancy's also lived next door to some Bradys in Fingal in the 1870's. There's a couple of Trove articles that have them as neighbours.

Cant find Catherine Garry anywhere apart from the birth of her children and her will.

James Clancy (Patrick & Mary Brady's son) left Catherine Clancy/Garry's granddaughter 50 pounds in his will.
