Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I have become adicted to Ancestry.com and am lucky enough that one side of my family can be researched way back into the dim times.

The other side has hit a brick wall and I have to wait until someone else in the world may have more information.

How is everyone else going?

Re: Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

So I rang Karrakatta & Fremantle cemetery today, at this stage only Karrakatta is doing the renewal, Fremantle & Guildford are safe atm but you probably knew that. My people are in the Historical part of the cemetery which will never be touched, Phew because it's $2,000 for grant renewel.

I will put my name down for a contact at the other cemeteries.

I seriously have to visit Perth!

Re: Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

Clair, you can also send me details on the Guildford ones as that is literally 5 minutes down the road.

Happy to also do the Fremantle ones as long as you are patient for them as that is a bit further to travel.

Yes I knew it was only Karrakatta up for renewal at this stage. A fair few of hubbys family are at Midland cemetery and we had reason to question them about that and they said no plans at this time for renewal. Thank goodness. FIL and his cousins are getting a new plaque done for their grandmother, vandals smashed the original one.

Re: Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I know! What does that really mean? He said they were the pioneers of the area and he said something else about who is in that section but I can't remember?

That was the one in the Cyclopedia of W.A. and his wife

Re: Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

Which section, did he say? I know right smack bang in the middle of the cemetery they have a historical section, very nice gardens around it unlike the other older sections.

Got a mention in the Cyclopedia, must've been sort of important.

Darn those Scotts Clair.

On my Mum and Dads marriage certificate it says for my father...."never validly married".....what on earth does that mean..........what on earth had he been up to...................no one ever said anything.

More than likely means that he was married before, outside his or his new brides faith.

Sorry, the rest of it didn't go through.

Or he's of different faith, and the minister/priest was having a dig?
