Thank you very much for those sites.....it looks to me that is was indeed the Boys Brigade....it makes sense with what I know of his life in Scotland.

Well done detective Mon. It all helps to put together little bits of who our ancestors (Flashies Dad in this case) are. This is what I am finding in going through my uncles bits and pieces, he kept everything. I have six years of love letters (his and hers he handwrote, then edited, then typed with carbon paper) its a facsinatining insight into his life and I now understand him a bit more.
